I have been learning from Woodrow Li on the Islam thread a while now.
He explains Islam is not a religion. It is a "verb".
" There is no way we can disown anyone from Islam. There is
no joining of anything to be disowned from."
Toleration of Islam is not religious toleration.
Islam is a really cheap way to control people. You promise their reward will come in heaven so there is no reason to pay them or be rewarded on earth.
Forcing women to wear the same black cloth also saves money. Otherwise, they would demand expensive clothing and shop at Macy's.
And want to drive so include a car in the cost end of things not to mention all that hair care/makeup stuff...
Just thought I'd add this for everyone's edification:
Full Definition of ISLAM
1
: the religious faith of Muslims including belief in Allah as the sole deity and in Muhammad as his prophet
2
a : the civilization erected upon Islamic faith
b : the group of modern nations in which Islam is the dominant religion
I also support their right to have their exhibit, no matter how much I dislike the content.
But, there has to be a line between expressing one's rights and infringing on those of another. there should also be some level of respect for those around you.
In my opinion the idea of having the contest in a predominately Muslim neighborhood, carries the view, it's purpose was to blatantly insult.
but, I do wish more people would notice. No member of the Garland community took part in any protesting or aggression. iN FACT NOT ONE OF THE 421,972 Muslims living in Texas took part in this atrocity
Clearly having the contest in a predominately Muslim neighborhood was meant to be insulting. But my point is freedom of speech/expression trumps everything else even if it offends someone's beliefs or religion. Government should in no way be influenced by religion period regardless of which one it is. If you give in a little the extremists will see it as weakness and up the ante.

It has been outlawed in virtually every other Islamic Nation.
Very few if any Mosques get any assistance from Saudi and would turn it down if offered.
Their spread is primarily in developing African Nations.
The majority of Muslims are Sunni and follow one of the 4 Madhabs and adamantly disavow Wahabi'ism as heresy.
Shi'ite which are long standing enemies of Arabs all disavow Wahabbi'ism.
In the US there are over 2300 Mosques nearly every one built by either the local community or a local family. However, there are less than 700 Imams A good many of them having been born and raised in the US. the next largest group being refugees from Pakistan.
While there may be Muslims from Saudi in the USA I have not met any except in my college years and they have all returned to Saudi. Nearly all Arabs in the USA are Christian refugees.
Woodrow,
A very good post. Isn't it a problem the House of Saud cannot be declared heretics for following what most Muslims consider a "heresy"?
Isn't it a problem that all Muslims face towards the land of the heretics instead of away?
Continuing to venerate earthen ground in Saudi Arabia is idolatry.
Kissing the ground and ring of a King doesn't sound in keeping with lifting eyes upwards.
So? Are you more concerned with the jihadists (and don't capitalize jihadists, mkay?) sensitivities to mockery than you are for freedom of speech? ... Or is it that you you've caved in fear to what they might do if we anger them?
We know that if we do these Mohammed spoofs or drawings, we are just stirring the pot abd asking for acts of terror to commence.

Yes you should. You should do it precisely because it pisses off these medieval sociopaths. You don't take a step back from these kinds of neanderthals. You step up and if that means drawing a picture of Muhammad eating a Carl's Jr Western Bacon Cheeseburger wearing a gay pride shirt then you draw that picture and you do it with gusto to show them you aren't afraid.
OK, what religion are you? Would you like it if I mocked your prophet and God? If you get offended by it, why are you condoning what the Jihadists did because you are going the same thing they did.
Quote:
I can see you're a proponent of caving in fear. Well don't worry ... those among us who AREN'T afraid will keep you safe.
Nice rhetoric there.

Yeah. Murderers and cartoonists. Pretty much all the same.
The cartoonists are for baiting this especially after the Charlie Hebdo incident.
That traffic cop that leaded those two dead thug wannabe terrorists should be considered a national hero. He saved a lot of innocent people from getting killed.

Ever hear the term
"Turn the other cheek"?
Recently when Muslims were burning yet another of the 1000+ churches in Africa, the Muslim hoard became enraged because the minister wouldn't fight back.
They marched to his home, set it on fire, and made sure his daughter couldn't escape.
(Nigeria April 2015)
Now THAT, that is how a religious man responds to having his religion insulted.
Surely the problem is that a 'non secular' form of 7th century thinking expects accommodation in a 21st century world.
More precisely in this case, its 7th century thinking expecting to be accommodated in the US, where our thinking about individual freedom is quite different. Since it is our country, we will live by our laws, not theirs. We don't care who's offended.
wow, so the mods deleted my post that contained info regarding ADFI and Pam Geller, the group responsible for hosting the art exhibit? they were valid links to MSM articles and Wikipedia. shows what kind of bias is on this site.
