Right, It's indefensible to some. I don't drink and find it ridiculous.

It's simple, don't drive after drinking. I think .05 is perfectly reasonable. I have a right not to be killed by some idiot that decides to drink and drive..and test .05 IS impaired.

Effects on .05 BAC:
Exaggerated behavior
May have loss of small-muscle control (e.g., focusing your eyes)
Impaired judgment
Usually good feeling
Lowered alertness
Release of inhibition

Effects on Driving:
Reduced coordination
Reduced ability to track moving objects
Difficulty steering
Reduced response to emergency driving situations

Maybe if people acted responsibly the government would not have to lower the limits to prevent innocent people from being killed...

So then you think it should be .001. How much caffeine or sugar should uncle sam limit us to, I'm sure eating and driving, or changing the radio station is as dangerous. Many things we due everyday in the car are more distracting, you have to draw the line somewhere based on evidence. It's been done and concluded that .08 is it.

Ok,

No cell phones allowed in cars anymore either. They must be placed in the trunk or rear of the vehicle prior to starting the car.

And if an infant is in a vehicle in a car seat, another adult needs to be in the vehicle to deal with the child so the driver is not distracted.

Time to get serious about safety.

It's not within the authority of the government. It's just more power-grabbing.
So the government shouldn't create laws and regulations to stop inebriated people from getting into cars and essentially potentially using them as weapons at the risk of God knows anyone else out there innocently driving?

Precisely. Follow the money. Follow the attempted revenue generation.

0.05 is still too high.

When some of you lose your mom, dad, brother, sister, child, grandparent, spouse, or best friend to someone who decided a couple drinks were OK before driving home, then you'll understand.

Yep...not only be killed.. When they end up not being able to move, talk, function... When you've seen families ruined, lives taken or changed forever....but oh noes, I can't have one extra drink before driving.

It's 0.05 in Australia, and has been for as long as I can remember.
It's really not a big deal.
