Injured people don't usually stay at the scene of an accident. So no, it is not unusual. If he didn't take the cab, they would have transported him in an ambulance as soon as possible.

I fail to see any lack of compassion or common sense on the part of the cab driver. Refusing to take an injured person to the hospital would be lacking compassion and common sense, as long as the person can walk and is not bleeding or something.

Picking people up in the middle of an expressway isn't common for cabbie. Had he not left the scene I don't think they would have charged him so heavily.

I've seen that headline, and it's pretty sensational. I'm also not sure it's true.

The kid claims he tried to rescue her, and he sustained burns on his arms and hands. Instead of running a picture of him smiling, which was taken who knows when but certainly not after that accodent, they should all run the picture I saw of him at the scene--he appeared to be injured and in shock, which would not be surprising.

People should stop jumping to conclusions.

You assume that the cab driver knew that there was a passenger trapped in the car.

The cab driver didn’t try to help the burning girl. Neither did the person who shot the video. My guess is that it was obvious it was too late for anyone trapped inside, with the car a ball of fire.

Or, as mentioned before, they may not have been aware that anyone else was inside. When a car is fully engulfed in flames, you can't really see anything inside.

Cab drivers in NY are mostly third world cretins who don't share the same values as normal society......even if the driver knew there was a body burning inside I don't think he'd care or want to get involved. Get the fare money and a good tip would be his main concern.

No, I'm not assuming anything. I'm recognizing that there's a possibility that he had no idea.
