I got an email from our favorite resort in Maine. It's open! YAY!
However, if you're coming from out of state you'd have to be quarantined somewhere for two weeks before enjoying the resort. Errrr, no thanks. I'll wait.
I miss my family!!!!! Gonna break soon and plan a visit.
My daughter and I were renegades and went on a 250 mile road trip to see her brother and his family. They also have a very low infection rate in their area and none of us have been sick with anything so we all agreed to take the risk. It was beyond wonderful to see my grandchildren again after 2 months away from them.
And in a way, it was kind of a test for all of us, they're expecting another baby this summer and I'm the one who watches the other kids while they're in the hospital.
I know many people in our area that never stopped seeing their grandchildren or other family members.

One reason why I'm resigned to people trying to pinpoint places of work for people with COVID. I doubt every worker lives alone and doesn't see friends or family. I know all too well that places of work might be set up so transmission is all too easy, but the workers are unlikely to be living in a bubble at home and in community.
Well, a newsletter in my in-box lists the following data:
The Latest Numbers
5,014,943 confirmed cases world-wide, and 328,462 deaths
23,192 new U.S. cases since yesterday
1,551,853 total confirmed cases in the U.S. so far
1,411 new deaths in the U.S. since yesterday
93,349 total U.S. deaths so far
12,647,791 tests conducted in the U.S.
Source: Johns Hopkins University as of 6:30 a.m. ET. Daily comparison based on figures featured in yesterday's newsletter.
Those numbers are huge and it's hard to wrap my little brain around it all.
This morning I checked our local numbers again. Still less than 100 cases in our county of 125,000, so more than 99% have not had or have the virus yet, with fairly loose restrictions.
I wonder what the percentages are in other areas, I haven't seen it reported this way.
I share your excitement about going to the dentist. I went today for a cleaning that had been postponed from mid-April. They did a temperature check with a forehead thermometer and asked me to fill out a questionnaire about any possible exposure to COVID-19, as well as any physical symptoms I might have. My temperature was 97.0 and I had no symptoms or contact with anyone who has been sick.
The hygienist was double masked with a plastic shield, gowned, and gloved. I had to wait quite a while, but they're probably still figuring out how long it takes to change PPE and clean everything between appointments.
Driving to that appointment felt like I was out of prison! Working from home has been great, but I didn't realize how cooped up I was feeling.
I still find it surprising how many people say this. I am working from home too, but I get out regularly. I actually get outside MORE than I would if I were going in to the office each day. I am driving less, but definitely outside more. I would be climbing the walls if I had to stay inside the entire day.
You guys need to find a cat-food buddy or two, so that when your cat refuses to eat what you've bought, you can swap cat food with someone else whose cat is being fussy about their food.
If that doesn't work, try swapping the cats
So funny, I just made a post saying the exact same thing before I got to your post! Great minds think alike.

Serology data has shown that testing is consistently only picking up 10% of actual cases, so multiply your number by 10. Or you can divide your number of deaths by the estimated total death rate, 0.25% (0.0025), to get a better estimate.
My county is 1.3%. I've heard that serology testing is becoming available, so we should get a better picture of total number of infections (a past snapshot) in a couple of weeks.
