I don't know, but I've only done it 12 or 14 times and it's working already for me. You can feel the pull. I do it fairly slowly, too.
nomoresnow - The elliptical trainer is brutal, isn't it? I have one, and when I was using it at least 30 minutes a day, I was in SO MUCH BETTER SHAPE.
Also, thank you for that waistline tip. Anything that works the waistline and gets rid of or prevents spare tires is always a good thing for us women. I have neck injuries so I will have to go with the method nomoresnow has listed here. The other way is less stable with less of a controlled form so I know that it would cause me some problems.
I'm so glad that we can share encouragement and fitness tips on this forum. Thanks everybody!

I couldn't believe how quickly I tired on that darned thing! I had told my dr. that I was getting winded walking upstairs so he said I should alternate 5 min. ea. on the stair climber, the elliptical, the treadmill and go back and start over. Well, I got on the elliptical this morning, all ready to go, and barely made it to the 1.5 minute mark. My heart rate was already up over 150! And I workout 3-4 times/week! Boy, did I feel out of shape. Oh, well, it'll get better.
nomoresnow - I wouldn't let your experience on the elliptical trainer cause you to feel out of shape. When I was running three miles a day and at the gym every day at lunch (weight training), I still struggled on the elliptical trainer whenever I attempted it. It is just a tough cardio workout. I can stay on for over an hour if I go SLOW, but to do it for longer than 30 minutes at a challenging pace (fast jog), forget it!
I've not checked in for a few days, but I haven't been a slug. No sir-eee
Rode my mtb for 2 hours Friday, took a day off Saturday, rode the road bike for 2 hours Sunday...and finally did a nice 35 min run this morning.
Great to hear everybody sounding so motivated and strong!
