How about a sample menu? I am trying my best to lose weight, eating healthy and exercising like crazy. Both cardio and weights, changing it up, adding intervals and nothing is coming off.

Get rid of the carbs. Done. Start shopping for skinny pants.
And no need to "exercise like crazy". You're just making your self hungrier.

Getting rid of carbs is not healthy.

Well like I said I do eat some grains but here's my menu for today.

Breakfast - steel cut oatmeal and a cup of strawberries

10 am - 1/4 cup of almonds

Lunch- one slice Dave's Killer Bread, mayonnaise, tomato slices and romaine lettuce, about one ounce of cheddar.

4pm - 1/4 cup of almonds (I've got an almond thing this week...I change up my nuts)

Dinner - Broiled Pork Loin with cooked spinach (made with about a tablespoon of butter)

I ran for 30 minutes this morning and did upper body strength training.

My "cut" (fat burning) nutrition plan is listed below. Very simple and easy to follow. Approximately 1200-1500 calories per day:

1. Cup of black coffee. No sugar, no cream.
2. After AM Cardio (5k run, or kung fu practice, or HIIT run, or sprints, or 5 rds on heavy bag) eat one banana.
3. Breakfast - bowl of steel cut oats with craisins and milk; OR half grapefruit with cottage cheese.
4. Snack - few raw almond slivers or raw hazelnuts or raw brazil nuts
5. Lunch - 3oz can chunk light tuna mixed with teaspoon of mayo, 6oz corn, 6oz kidney beans, tablespoon of Udos choice oil and teaspoon of spicy beet horseradish. Eat with two slices whole grain bread.
6. Snack - cottage cheese w/almond slivers and craisins; OR almond butter and low sugar jelly on whole grain bread; OR half grapefruit.
7. Dinner - chicken breast with raw broccoli or spinich and brown rice.
8. Snack - plain air popped popcorn with sprinkle of cayenne pepper, OR an apple OR a banana.

Weights and/or kung fu/yoga workout is usually prior to dinner. This "cut" plan is usually done for 2 weeks. You can sub chicken breast for the tuna if you worry about mercury.

This may work for some people, but I think it is terrible advice.

What they mean is stop eating all the carbs you are eating. You do not need more than 40-60 g of carbs a day. You would be surprised in how easily you can over do the carbs in one simple snack or even a drink.

When they say, "get rid of the carbs", you basically are when you compare it to how you've been eating. (General 'you' not necessarily 'you' personally.)

For example, while this would not be on a "healthy" diet, one can of pop, ONE, and you are done with the carbs for the day.

Go look at the labels of the food you are eating, even some of that those fruits and veggies. You need to cut your carbs down to no more than 40-60g a day. Your weight will fly off.

I was told I was diabetic even though with my numbers I don't see it... anyway... I am following a really low carb diet. Literally, I use lettuce for wraps or a super high fiber tortilla. You need protein and I increased that also. Eat lots of veggies, no rice, potatoes. I do eat pasta once a week but I measure it for one serving only. I make chicken burgers weekly and eat eggs, tuna and no cereals except on a rare day. You have to watch what is high in sugar and carbs, certain fruits and how much you are eating. It takes some work and being able to say no to yourself but once you get it down it becomes second nature.

I lost 10lbs in no time.

I have been reading "Living the Low Carb Life" by Jonny Bowden PhD. and it is quite enlightening. It literally explains the beginning to present of the low carb mind set. Most importantly, he explains why carbs have screwed everyone up.

Exactly!! There are groups of people who live totally on protein and fat and have NO heart disease. No carbs. It is when they are introduced to carbs that they get fat.
