There is even a medical food that you have to buy with a prescription that has this. I never was able to see if it helped her though b/c she couldn't keep the shakes down and we found out it was terminal cancer instead.

An extreme ketogenic diet has also been used successfully with seizure patients, so that may explain why you feel so great--your brain loves it. When I say extreme ketogenic though, I'm talking that they just pretty much consume lumps of fat. Not kidding here. Can you say compliance problems?

With Medium Chain Triglyceride supplementation, many times you can slightly modify a medically-based Ketogenic diet........eating slightly more carbs and protein.

You're not remembering correctly.

I saw no mention of your bones which happen to lose calcium like crazy on a high-protein diet.

Ain't that the truth. If diets weren't hard to stick with, so many of us wouldn't be struggling with our weight.

Atkins is a high fat diet. That is one of its main principals. It wants your body to burn fat as fuel. I have read the Atkins book more than once cover to cover. It very clearly states that wants you to consume high fat foods.

Yes, Atkins diet doesn't account for fat or make any attempts to reduce fat.

Of course it doesn't...because when properly doing Atkins, fat is your primary source of energy.

So, if I feel low energy sometimes....should I eat something with fat
or cook something using more olive oil?

I didn't know what was causing it, so I would eat, take my vitamins and potassium..it would eventually pass.
Thanx for your help.

Well, it does take a while for most people to fully adapt to using fat for energy.

I have read that full keto-adaption can take up to 3 months......depending on the person. This doesn't mean that you should be feeling cra**y this whole time....if that is the case....you need to change something.

People do the Ketogenic diet and they either do not eat enough (mainly fat) or they go too crazy with cutting out the carbs.....both of these mistakes can lead to Hypos and people talking about how shi**y a ketogenic diet is.

That is stupid, replacing carbs with fat. Wait, you need a balance of carbs, fats and protein to function.

Your body can use both fat and carbs for energy ( and protein via gluconeogenesis). Your brain can use both glucose and ketones.

One of the reasons people do a Ketogenic-Diet is to shift their body's energy source from mainly glucose to mainly fat/ketones.

You may disagree with a Ketogenic-diet, but many people do very well on them.....especially people doing Keto for medical reasons.
