My GOD, how the heck do you guys do this? I would be so mean and cursing if I had to be hungry for that long.

I give you credit.

But that's just it; you're not hungry. This especially applies to people eating low carb, ketogenic diets.

Some people can jump right in, but not me! I started at a very simple 12 hour fast and slowly moved it up. It took me two months to get to a 16 hour fast! But it was worth it. It was several more months before I tried going longer. Now I usually fast for 18 hours each day and it's pretty easy. Again though, I eased into it quite slowly!

Ah, OK. I didn't realize the fasting thing was tied to the keto.

I tried Atkins back in the 80s. By the end of the week I would have murdered someone for mashed potatoes.

I am no longer vegetarian, but my meat/fish intake is still limited. Not sure it would work for me. My dd is vegan, like you, and she was doing some form of high-protein last year, though, so there are ways.

I had oatmeal with peanut butter and blueberries in soy milk about three hours ago, I am sitting here starving already.

I didn't start with OMAD, either, but with two meals a day. Around, IIRC, six weeks or so. But in those podcasts I listen to, the newest one mentioned this, the lack of feeling hungry. Also, chronic migraine headaches going away.

LOL, OK.

I just try to eat a balance and stay away from sugar as much as possible. It's hard, though. Some days are better than others. Today I am just SO hungry and I'm cranky because of it.

Going to go to Planet Fatness and do the 30-minute cycle thing, which will make me even hungrier, but at least I'll feel as if I burned a little of it off.

I like mashed potatoes.
But I only eat them once a year, on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Mashed Tater Mountain is so tall that it has snow on top of it.

According to the keto docs, carbs are addictive. FWIW. I'm expecting my son and my brother and his family, this evening sometime. My son is tall and thin and he loves beer, corn chips and Oreos. So that's what we got. And pizza. People like this stuff.
