OP: Not good. I've dealt with sluggish bowels and constipation a lot of my life and NO MORE. I make sure I take a good deal of magnesium daily and choose the type that works best for me. And I take 2-3K Vit C during the day, and if things get too loose, I take less. Gotta get rid of the stuff that is backed and go daily, at least once or twice. And warmer room temp water, NOT cold stuff.
Once you get more regulated, massage your belly now and then, gets things moving too.
And get some good fats, nice chunk of butter on that baked potato.
Very interesting.
I was taking 4 500mg tabs a day, but then (re a thread that detailed how it is absorbed) I cut that back to 1 500mg per day, thinking the other three might be a waste. Now that I think about it my issue similar to the OP started at that time. I'm going to try going back to my previous 4 500mg tabs a day .
I heard about magnesium from other people.
I'm gonna try it.!
I do eat salad and other high fiber food. But maybe not enough fat.
I excersise a lot.
I do take magnesium and don't know if it helps but has other value. AS for salads, remember not everything in salad has fiber: most green lettuce is not high in fiber except iceburg. I am a huge salad eater but knwo my fiber needs will not be fulfilled by salad only.
one simple solution for me was having oats daily. I have it both sweet and savory as well as other creative recipes. It's the best thing for regularity. I tried junk food for a few days and it totally messed up my routine, so I limit it. Most of us aren't really in to produce, and I'm not a fan of whole grain products either, somehow good old fashioned oats has improved my life.

And I've cut out oats pretty much totally, as I'm into a lower carb food intake, and get my carbs in my veggies. Whatever works but need to keep regular.
Sometimes, when feeling a bit clogged up, I'll eat a half cup of plain bran cereal (look for one without a lot of sugar) with some chopped up apple and sunflower seeds on top...that, along with a cup of strong coffee does some good things for the GI tract...can eat this any time of day, but be near a facility...
gg: Everyone's body is different as are their needs. Some people take up to 10K vit C daily, I do not, maybe I would if I took no magnesium but I Love magnesium. I'll DM you my fav mag nutritional supplement...works for me and my sluggish bowel issues. I don't want to keep my waste in my body longer than I have to...in and out in good time.
At what time you take the vit-c?
Do you take it with other meds/supps or do you wait for those to be absorbed?
I keep a bottle at my desk and pop 1 or 2 when I feel like it and sometimes 1 close to bedtime. Depends too on much my bowels have moved during the day, so I gauge that. My stomach is only empty from about 7PM to 9AM or so.
Thanks everyone for your answers. I appreciate all of them.
