My husband is doing a low carb diet (not full on keto) He has been doing very well since 2 weeks before Christmas. I would say he's lost about 25 pounds so far. for some reason tonight he is jonsing for something else as he calls it. Tonight I made him salmon and cauliflower fried rice. Then he had some cheese for a snack. He's in a foul mood ( not at me) and said he does not feel satisfied and wants something else (something he should not have that's high in carbs and fat) usually a cup of hot green tea after dinner helps but tonight he has refused that. is this normal to feel like this? I say it is and I told him he needs to get through it and not think about it but he said it's hard. If this were me I'd get it out my system and have that food I was craving. I just hope this is just a once in awhile thing and that he does not fall backwards. His BS levels have been so low since starting this and he says he feels better.

Adding fat to a low carb eating plan can help satisfy the eater. Add some avocado or butter. Sometimes I've felt the same way, just not had enough. I did last night and added some keto bread and butter to my dinner. It helped.
Just some thoughts. Adding fats, good fats is NOT a bad thing.

Some people just don't do well on low carb. Diets are so personal. What works for some may not work for someone else. Low carb - Keto, did work for me until it didn't. After a few months I was miserable on it. I do much better eating from all the food groups.

Sometimes a cheat meal is all one needs to get back into the swing of things, but for most people they tend to be a slippery slope to diet failure. The only person that can figure out what is best for him is him.
And as the above poster said, maybe he needs more fat in his diet. Worth a try.

I believe what he wants is something crispy and crunchy, and I’m not talking raw vegetables.

I was on low carb for a year and my downfall was breakfast. I couldn’t face another egg.

I assume your hubby has tried pork rinds? The only low carb snack food I can think of. Maybe the best thing for him is to go ahead and have the thing he craves. For me, it was a bowl of crispy cereal with berries.

He doesn’t need to feel too bad if he goes off in the ditch once in awhile.

Wow, I was going to suggest the same! Pork rinds might do the trick. And frankly a small portion of something he craves isn't going to undo everything as long as he can stick to doing that only once in awhile.

I am a person with blood sugar issues but I have to have my carbs, I just can't function if I don't. I compensate by keeping my weight way down and exercising religiously. I try not to go off the "deep end" too often lol.

It takes time and incentive to get used to it. I had diabetes and return to injecting insulin if I cheated. So lot incentive to keep with it. Seriously it gets easier. Stuff that didnt used to taste sweet now does. Occasional piece fruit tastes too sweet.

The main thing is enough fat in low carb diet. Unless you are a body builder or professional athelete or something, most people get plenty if not too much protein. The fat will keep you feeling full long time. Yea gram fat twice the calories of a gram carb, but you eat less than half as much.

Personally I think people try to go full KETO or close to it right off the bat and thats just too much of a change. I suggest more like 100 to 150 grams carbs per day. Govt recommends max of 300 grams carbs per day FOR EVERYBODY, though they dont push this recommendation, rarely see it mentioned. Too many corporations have vested interest in getting people to eat ever more carbs. Low cost to produce, high profit margin, and tends to be quite addictive.

25 lbs in less than 2 months is too much too soon. Let the poor man eat something.

This is what it sounds like to me. I went low carb 2 weeks before her hubby did (a little over 8 weeks now), and I'm still at about 8-10 lbs weight loss. He's on keto not low carb. I stick to about 100-150 grams of carbs per day, but as previously mentioned I ate a whole pie (blueberry, my favorite) over Christmas and it didn't have any effect on my weight. I made sure I stopped at 1.
