Japanese Chins -- "the dog for people who like cats"
I was the ubiqitous crazy cat lady and didn't care much for dogs. Spouse had dogs - Shelties, Australian Shepherds, even a small dog - YorkiePoo. I still favored cats.
Then, Spouse's YorkiePoo died; he was heartbroken. After a few years, we began to research small dogs and decided on a Japanese Chin. I thought it would be HIS dog; I still had 3 cats. Gotta say, though, when the breeder passed me the basket containing that little fuzzball, I was struck dumb with instant love Nothing I had ever felt for my purries matched what I felt for Anjin. A week later, we went back for her sister. Moar
Since then, we've taken in two more Japanese Chins, both from rescue. It so makes my heart hurt to see abandoned or puppy mill Chins, I swore we would never ever get another one from a breeder.
I have one cat; she is well-loved and cared for; but after Fiona is gone, there will be no more cats, just Chins.
My favourite dog is a Siamese cat. They fetch and can be walked on leashes.
But seriously, it's pitbulls. I never gave them much thought until I ended up with a pit who was seized from a drug dealer and was destined for the gas chamber at the pound.
It turned into a rescue/rehab and I ended up with about a dozen over time that I rehabilitated and found good homes for.
I'd still be doing it if I wasn't hurt at work and had lost partial use of one arm...they're very strong.
Wonderful, wonderful dogs! Crappy owners.
The Mastiff breeds have always been my favorite, I love my Corso's , they fit in perfect with my lifestyle. I loved my Rottweiler. He was with me for almost 13 years, I buried him 3 weeks ago. It still doesn't seem real that he's gone.
