The problem is when persons of divergent views regard each other not merely as competitors in the "marketplace of ideas", but as sworn enemies. If somebody accuses investors of being either conniving parasites seeking to despoil hard-working simple-folk, or gullible stooges slavishly serving their overlords, then said investors are going to recoil with anger and will bristle with their own hatred. Meanwhile, the accusers will regard themselves as oppressed holy-men, misunderstood by a factitious and corrupt culture.

We see the same in modern politics. Political opponents regard the other party as being outright traitors and pernicious abusers. If one feels thusly about the other side, then we can have neither reasoned discourse nor compromise… which is exactly what we're seeing. The upshot is enthralling theater – isn't it fun to spew insults, and to watch insults being spewed? – without ever getting anything done.

I'm just as guilty of the same fascination with the theater – which is why I remain here. Unfortunately this theater has also been a distraction and a source of emotional self-riling. It would, of course, have been so much better to discuss legitimate investment-advice. But is it realistic to expect that?

i rarely devote much time to political or economic discussions . almost all my time is spent learning more about the things that help me plan better , grow financially and become more financially successful while keeping my fair share of taxes as low as i can . complaining and blaming does none of that for me .

What makes you believe all unhappy or miserable people are suffering financially?

Do you believe that everyone who complains is poor as well?

Well this is an economic sub section and there have been more of a theme of "the game is rigged" and such after the recent dip in the market. Just my two cents.

It's become so Obvious ..that "Capitalism" foundation is "WALL STREET"..and to deny it for American/Most Countries for that matter is ridiculous.

Wall Street invests/hedges/outsources/funds elected officials who happen to make laws/support laws that either protect them/benefits them/deregulates them in order for those "High Powered" folks can continue to CONTROL GDP.

So yes, Corporate Conglomerates DO control your destiny not to mention depending on who they (Wall Street Elites) expendable or worthy..actually dictates how the Country is run!!

Anyone wonder why those lower income folks who cannot invest never experience their benefits..and SUFFER the consequences of laws/attitudes that devalue them as unnecessary...Cavalier to say the least..and one wonders why the angers/fears and disenfranchised sense???

Ok. But you clearly associate "doom and gloomers" with people who are doing poorly financially.

I try not to make such bold assumptions about people. We are all entitled to our own opinions, and I will leave it at that.
