And what do you get for healthcare coverage after you pay that 800.00 a month? Deductibles on average are above 3k a year and then what after that?

So no health care for the mother of your child and your child? Let’s see where you are when you are paying for them. Now you’re not saving anything and actually eating into your principal.
Let’s not forget paying the deductibles when things happen. My friend paid almost $4k for her son, 1500 for herself, and 4 k for her husband for deductibles.
Just on yourself saving a little means your egg is not keeping up with inflation and you are going backwards.

This thread reminds me of the Monty Python Cheese Shop Skit..."I was deliberately wasting your time."

Good Lawd...if I’m paying for my child’s healthcare at 55 I’ve failed as a parent.

My deductible is $1000.

What your deductible is now and your out of pocket cost now really aren’t the issue.

You don't get it. You can have these costs at age 35 totally derailing your fragile scenario.
The average deductable is over $3700 for the silver plan, not the $1,000 you currently have on the mooch health plan. Again being disingenuous.

What costs have you named that I can’t pay?

I can pay it...every year for the rest of my life if needed....while being retired.

More name calling?

I guess you could say don’t hate the player hate the game.

You’re coming across as very salty.

Hence why I looked up the costs for a 55 year old.

I could pay the out of pocket max every year for a 55 yr old couple PLUS the premium with no subsidy. Of course I’m not saying that to brag, but look for a new angle. The health insurance thing was covered in my debut retirement thread many years ago.

If you don’t like Obamacare subsidies — vote for those that will change it.

You do understand that the ACA max out of pocket isn’t the same thing as your maximum cost right?

Looking up the cost for a 55 year old today is fairly meaningless as your budget point for something 20+ years down the road as the out of pocket max has risen roughly 5% a year over the last four years. In 20 years the family max aca out of pocket would be 42k annually at that rate

I’m not sure what you are referring to. Again you don’t need to fabricate things to discuss or argue against
