Regarding the Federal Reserve, Paul's position may not be agreed with by a lot of folks. After all, if the Federal Reserve created our problems the past few years, shouldn't they also get the credit for the massive economic expansion the multiple decades preceding this period?

Can't just give them the blame without also acknowledging their benefits.

There was never any "massive" economic expansion. It was all smoke and mirrors and bubbles and fraud. Meanwhile the purchasing power of the dollar has been steadily ERODING ever SINCE the Federal Reserve was established.

The prosperous times in the 1950s could have been all that much MORE prosperous without a central bank.

All anyone needs to so is look at our history and our economy and the standard of living people had during Victorian times which was exponentially higher than it was before then or after that time when this country had a central bank controlling the monetary system.

In Victorian times you had people of relatively modest means(middle class) who could STILL afford a live-in maid and a nice house which today might be considered a "mansion" by many standards.

It's happening, in spite of the nay sayers!!!!!!

Paul wins conservative voter straw poll

Rep. Ron Paul easily won a Republican presidential candidate straw poll Saturday at the conservative Values Voter Summit in Washington, while two of the most popular candidates in the race — Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — finished near the bottom.
Mr. Paul won with 37 percent of the vote, while businessman Herman Cain, who has been surging in the polls recently, finished in second with 23 percent. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum finished third with 16 percent.
Dr. Paul’s standing among Christian conservative voters is growing as people become more familiar with the man as well as the message,” said Jesse Benton, Mr. Paul’s presidential campaign chairman

Yes and the MSM won't show it but a lot of the people at the Occupy Protests carry Ron Paul signs and are educating people about the issues. You can see them on YouTube.

I wish Alex Jones would go to the major protests with his bullhorn and give them all a lesson.

Of course we Ron Paul fans are happy about a recent poll finally showing a better representation of what people are really thinking out there about the candidates. Certainly there is NOTHING to get excited about with Romney or Cain or Perry or any of the others who have practically faded away.

The only candidate who has remained in the forefront, whether the polls indicate it or not is RON PAUL! He's the only one whose opinion the MSM has cared about when it comes to validating, approving or disapproving of what Obama & Company have been doing when it comes to foreign policy or the economy. He's the only one who would know what to do in times like these to save us.
The others are a bunch of incompetents like Obama has proven himself to be.
You are sounding alarmingly like Obama supporters before the 2008 election. Ron Paul is "The One." When will you anoint him The Messiah?

Seriously, if you sleep better at night dreaming of a Ron Paul Presidency, then more power to you.

The rest of us know that he'll never make it through the primaries....

The MSM admits Ron Paul is surging. They point out that Romney (supposed front-runner) only has support from 25% of the Republicans. Panel Plus: 10/09 - Fox News Video - Fox News

This is a montage of all the TV stations announcing Ron Paul's win.

Not even tasty cookies. The Federal Reserve has done absolutamente NADA that we can say has been good for the country. We had 80 years of prosperity before this central bank was created since the last one was destroyed. We need to strive to get that kind of prosperity again. All we need to do is look at history and see what President Andrew Jackson did when he got rid of the Bank of the United States and set up the monetary system similarly. That is what the Occupy Wall St people should be demanding.

ron paul certainly can tap into the unhappiness/disenfranchisement that many americans feel about the country right now. we are seeing it on the right with the tea party and on the left with occupy wall street. people are seriously aggravated by the direction that this country is going, and they feel powerless-so they band together in protest.

people really are looking for REAL change now.

i think this was interesting from strike the root:

Speaking of failure and stupidity: What regulatory group was keeping an eagle eye on Bernie "The Ponzi King" Madoff while the Ponz-meister was stealing $billions from too-trusting retirees and other investors?

The government's own SEC, of course, which received tips and complaints about Madoff's operation for a decade before the man volunteered his confession. Red flags were everywhere, but the SEC ignored them. Too bad for Madoff's investors, but hey: it's Darwin in action, baby! Considering that Congress has handled our Social Security contributions taxes in much the same way that Madoff handled his client's money, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised at government failure in this area.

At the top of the regulatory food chain in the monetary realm is the Federal Reserve, a privately owned corporation chartered by the government to create (for a profit) the money used by the United States (and isn't that a bizarre idea?) and to regulate banking in this country. Under Federal Reserve stewardship, the U.S. dollar has gone from a perfectly-stable value of one-twentieth of an ounce of gold per dollar (meaning, for instance, that Henry Ford was paying his assembly-line workers a quarter-ounce of gold per day for building those Model Ts) to our present situation where the dollar HAS no defined value, is tied to nothing whatsoever, and will currently purchase only a tiny speck of gold; about one twelve-hundredth of an ounce (you can check the current gold/dollar ratio at 321gold.com). Americans are leery of the Fed (for good reason) and overwhelmingly want the Fed thoroughly audited at the very least, but instead Congress and the President have recently given the Fed vast new regulatory powers in the 2,000+ page Dodd-Frank Financial Regulation Act. Yet it appears the Inspector General for the Federal Reserve cannot account for $9 trillion in the Fed's off-balance-sheet transactions. (Link includes text and imbedded video of the IG being questioned on the topic, and yes: that was "trillion" with a "t"). We gave sweeping new powers to a secretive organization that doesn't know, or won't say, how it spent nine trillion dollars of our money. Yikes.

i can't even imagine why anybody would vote or consider more of the same.

This IS a great story, thanks! Having waited to see him and hear him speak in 2008 in Colorado Springs, this article describes the Dr. Paul I saw as well. I got a picture of him with my adult son, newly discharged from the Air Force after his stint in S. Korea where his entire squadron supported Ron Paul. It was an awesome day.
