^Indeedy. . .Heard someone say Kasich is much like that house/dinner guest that refuses to leave
Why do so many Trump supporters think Kasich should drop out? He has more to gain by staying in. He splits some of the NE votes with Trump, he stands a chance of a brokered convention choosing him and he stands a chance of being named the VP candidate.
The whole picture is muddied now. Trump will not get his number and the delegates will not give him the nod. But who will get it? Cruz is the Trump killer, but he can't begin to beat Clinton. Kasich doesn't deserve the nomination based on his primary performance. My guess is they go outside the three, maybe for Ryan. Would not be surprised to see them pick Rubio or Walker either.

It seems to me that Kasich hurts Cruz more than he does Trump. What Kasich voter is going to find comfort in Trump? If Kasich quits they probably stay home as there is no moderation left in the candidates at all.
New York won't save Trump. He needs 1237 going in, plain and simple. He is going to have difficulty get it now. Wisconsin is the beginning of the end. The establishment won.

The brokered convention will never pick a guy who doesn't even appeal to Republicans.

This is what I think is the establishment's plan. Make sure Trump doesn't have the required 1237 delegates by the time he gets to the convention, and then put Kasich forward as their candidate in the second ballot. Many of Trump's delegates won't stick with him after the first vote. Kasich will be their second choice. And that's why Kasich is staying in all the way to Cleveland.
Someone here said Kasich sounded way too gleeful the night he won Ohio--that he made a speech that made it sound like he just won the nomination. Perhaps he had.

Cruz also needs 1237 going in. He's even in worse shape.

On the first bold part. You again repeat the mistake you made previously. You don't have to have 1237 going into the convention from the primaries. You have to have 1237 on the first ballot. Trump only has to convince a small handful of unbound delegates to vote with him to win the nomination.
On the second point. This is only assumption and it also doesn't consider that 25% of the bound delegates will still be bound to Trump giving him a huge advantage over the others.
People who think the GOP is going to nominate Cruz, aren't looking at the facts.

True, Cruz simply is not going to win on a first ballot in spite of what he keeps saying. He knows, as does everyone, that the key to his win is keeping Trump from the magic number. For whatever reason, Republican delegates are far more enamored of Cruz than they are of Trump. Either one gets beat badly in November according to all polls. Cruz possibly helps with the senate, but that is debatable. So maybe they just go with someone that keeps the power in the hands of the power brokers and go on to fight another day. Kasich, Ryan, Rubio, Walker?
