It's the only way they can get people to wade into their kooky pools.

BTW: the funniest thing about all of this is Colin Powell's speech in Louisville was WAY BACK IN APRIL, and not anything about the election. It was about global issues like terrorism.

Powell once said "I am not going to be the best black sargeant, I am going to be the best sargeant". Remember Powell endorsed W in 2000 and later left the administration through disagreement with perhaps W, Cheney and Rice. He is not actively campaigning for Obama, if anything it is more like a slap in the face to W and his administration. As a tactician Powell also waited for the final 2 weeks (where early voting has already started) to announce his endorsement, mainly to dodge the question. In 2 weeks Obama will be in Office and Powell as smart as he is, will not.

Because, Colin Powell brought an unneeded discussion about race into his speech. It is not what he said that was important, it was the fact that no white person could have given the same speech within the same context without being caused racist. I am saying that no black man of Powell's class need speak about race in his speeches. It was Obama that brought the race card to the table, not Bill Clinton or John McCain.

It is about race! Obama running for President as a white man (remember, he had the choice to be black or white) with the same exact issues would have lost to Clinton big time. Stop and think you foolish people. BHO is 1/2 white and 1/2 black, he stated that he made the choice to be seen as a black man. So, you who think it's not about race, better get a real grip on your self.

Exactly, you are so right. Thank you... so why did he need to bring in race? That is my point. Mr. Powell spoke so eloquently about his stories and about the global issues.

Again, I think you'd better ask who is being foolish. The one who needs to get a grip is you.

It is a widely known fact that in past US history, any person who had a drop of black blood was considered black, and guess what - that rule has never gone away. Obama may be 1/2 black, but 1/2 is the same as 100% black to many people. If he was to walk down the street and no one knew who he was would not say he's white, so please, give us a break with the nonsense you are trying to sell as fact.

How do you know he would have lost? You seem to know a lot but the problem is that none of it is based in fact, but all in emotion.

You know that if Obama was white, he would have lost, you know that Colin Powell only endorsed Obama because of his race but have no facts AT ALL to back it up.

What this shows is that you are projecting your internal feelings as facts.

You are absolutely dillusional if you believe this to be true. In the eyes of America, he is and always was a black male. Colin Powell is of mixed race as well. So I propose that Colin Powell's (as a white man) is endorsing Barack Obama (as a white man), because he feels he is the best candidate.

I don't know. Why don't you tell us all what he said.

So Powell was talking about "crackers" and "negroes" and how race-mixing was destroying the planet? Are these the kind of racist remarks he was making, remarks that so offended you?

Or did he mention something about being the first black man to reach the position that he has, and that offended you? Sorry, but firsts are important. Perhaps as a white, male you don't get that because you can take certain things for granted. Or perhaps you think the fact that every president of this country has been a white man is simply coincidence or the result of working the hardest?

It is hard to know what you are implying as you won't be specific about the offense other than he mentioned race. The horror!

I'm sure as far as the OP is concerned, that would be fine.
