That's what I call "craziness the Russian way)))))"

This is a tempest in a tea cup...Give it time and it will all blow over...The legendary reputation historically of the Ukraine is that it was never a sovereign nation...it was the "Boarder Land" a place on the fringe of nations but never really a nation.

heheh are you kidding? Look Putin's gone into Ossetia, Abkhazia, Ukraine(Crimea) and overrun borders in the name of quelling 'rebellion'. Kind of scares the West you know? This looks like a modern day PAC-MAN game where Putin's so apaprently starved that he's got to satiate his hunger and eat up territories. Maybe just a matter fo time before Latvia, Estonia, Lithuainia are 'potato chips' for Russian ingestion too???? ..;-)....

You need to look at all Gazprom/Oil pipes and their routs. They are definitely in Caucasus ( or planned to be there) or in Ukraine.
I don't think anyone is planning to attack Russia in a physical sense of it, so she doesn't need the "buffer territories" as it was a case earlier, just the ones that assure her financial interests.

An empire is only a vilified if you are not part of it. Look at the history of Britain and America...they plowed through dozens of territories and cultures and took them over. Putin is a bit of a twit and so is Obama for that matter...it seems twitism has become common among leaders...elected or installed. The invasion of Iraq was akin to quelling an oil rebellion...The killing of heads of state good or bad has become common fair for America....Remember when the Americans set up that quasi judicial system in Iraq...and Saddam had his head literally ripped from his body in that very brutal hanging? Well once found guilty this dictator did not get a visit from the hangman until the installed Iraqi judges got that phone call from Washington....Okaying that actual execution.

My point is the days of the perpetuation of the illusion of America holding the high moral ground have come to an end. My father was born in 1910 - he witnessed the tail end of the Russian revolution...he endured world war 2....He even served at the Kremlin as an honor guard...He was in Berlin during the last days and saw the place turned to fire and ash...He had seen it all - and the one thing he said about war and politics is that "There are no good guys"...the same can be said of recent events...no one is without sin.

Come on now, Ossetia and Abkhazia were special situations, in which they were attacked, and Russia intervined; even the OSCE stated Georgia was at fault, but cited Russia for a disproportionate response. Crimea is in no way comparable.

Those two areas did not belong to Georgia during the USSR, and Georgia attempted to claim them after declaring independence. Those two areas are in a known dispute for over 20 years now (and even further if include Soviet time). You state "Putin's gone into Ossetia, Abkhazia,", so did Georgia; so maybe Georgia is trying to assert itself into Russia to reclaim its glory it had under Stalin? Of course not, sounds ridiculous, all the same with some of these Russian statements (not directed at you, jsut in general). The Crimea situation is overblown, and is obviously a national security issue for Russia, all the same the failed invasion of Cuba and Cuban blockade was a antional security issue for the US.

And Russia is not after territory, but stratigic assets, in which Black Sea access would be one. It is a bit overly dramatic to think Russia is now targetting the Baltic states, when there is no evidence of this at all. However, Russia's interst in Ukraine, and specifically Crimea, has been well established.
