Maybe her point is that everyone should start bleaching their hair blond and wearing blue colored contact lenses if they plan to travel to the US, or around the West in general. Or to Russia, for that matter.

Yes, being white, blue-eyed and preferrably blonde will cause you less problems sometimes, especially in the west. But, also, in Spanish tourist resorts you will be harassed by all kind of scammers, people wanting you to visit their nightclub etc............
Actually, many blonde haired blue-eyed people get stopped a lot at customs. They have to stop them so that others can't claim racism. (I know people who have talked to TSA, and that's always the answer.)
The TSA in Atlanta and Miami often stopped Latinos when transiting through those airports.
It also does not help that those two cities belong to the two states which allow the police and border control to profile they "suspect" is an illegal.
I hate them, and because of my somewhat East or Southeast Asian appearance: they thought I could not possibly be Latino and committing fraud.
To be fair, even if the Western Europeans complain about immigration, they would be called racist and thrown in the prison. So most of them keep quiet and let government do all the damage.
Eastern Europeans are completely different though. They are more vocal and not afraid to stand up against immigration, though some go overboard by using violence. Russians especially are scary. There are some disturbing videos of them torturing immigrants
Well put. The most frustrating part is how the West tries to portray the East as less evolved (or other crap) in the media. Fortunately post WW2 suffering has made Easterners tough unwilling to sacrifice their ideals.

You call that post ww2 suffering "fortunately" made 'em tough? The Eastern Europe countries have taken crap without saying anything for the longest of all European countries. I've worked for years in the eastern parts after they put down the Berlin wall. They didn't seem tough at all to me, they seemed broken.

Ofcourse they do, and ofcourse they should be scared. Financial crisis and unemployment are the best base for those parties to get solid ground. We all seen that before.
Too bad that's keeping people from going to WE countries, as if we're all racists. I quess for them it's hard to understand it has little to do with colour.
