I was on the road a lot today listening to the radio, local news mostly. Sometime this morning in Tacoma Wa, Mt Tahoma High School was put on lock down. Kids and teachers were locked in their class rooms because some thug (already a convicted felon) brought a gun to school in his backpack.

All summer long teachers have been doing lockdown drills, practicing in case of a mass shooting. Sheriffs and police have made it crystal clear that any kid so much as making a post on the internet threatening violence of any kind will be subject to criminal punishment. Police are on high alert when it comes to schools. Most schools have some form of police or security presence during school hours.

Of course the teachers are still not allowed to defend themselves from their students, lets not forget that. Thugs, convicted felons, are still allowed in schools too.

The first day of school in Russia this year.

Talk about a contrast.

Do you want your kids going to schools like we have here Max? I hear that Chess is a required subject now. Here in America Escape and Evasion , combat survival and hand to hand combat are replacing reading writing and arithmetic.

Funny article. Found on the Internet and asked Google to translate

Spoiler

9/11 - unlearned lessons.

In some creative circles it is customary to make fun of the Russian special services "allegedly prevented" another terrorist attack. Also, creatives consider it a good tone to stick out their internal problems, trying to discredit those thanks to whom they live peacefully in a country that is certainly under the gun of terrorists of all stripes.

In the recent history of the Russian security services happened, of course, anything, but it should be noted: their authority, perhaps, has never been so high as now. It got to the point that every sneeze on the planet immediately attributed to the ubiquitous GRU, which is about his "exploits" learn from another the inflamed imaginations of the status foreigners.

We will open a couple of pages showing the capabilities of our special services, some of which are well known, and some have long been undeservedly forgotten.

***

In the early 90-ies, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the fateful events occurred in Tajikistan on the verge of death because of a bloody civil war between the "cogently" (northerners) and "kulyabis" (southerners). The latter were actively assisted by numerous terrorist groups from Afghanistan, which (really?!) directly and indirectly supported the U.S. Embassy, which we will say below.

As a result, the young country was actually saved by the 15th separate GRU special forces brigade stationed in Chirchik, Uzbekistan. On orders from Moscow, the soldiers secretly (so as not to advertise the intervention of Russia) moved to help the Tajik government troops in Kurgan-tube. Dressed in the clothes of terrorists with whom they were familiar from the Afghan war, the commandos, under the command of Colonel Vladimir Kvachkov and chief of staff Alexander Musienko, first beheaded terrorist groups, and then finally helped to defeat the disorganized gangs. Since then, the officers of the Russian special forces became known as the people's Tajiks of Russia and they are still remembered in Tajikistan.

***

And now about the US Embassy in Tajikistan.

In the autumn of 1992, an event occurred which distinguished the famous scouts of the 201st motorized rifle division to be in the center of the grinder. The Americans sought to finally sever Tajikistan's ties with Russia, for which they had to discredit the Russian military. However, as is often the case, our "worst friends" have outplayed themselves by being besieged by one of the terrorist clans.

As it is not difficult to guess, the Embassy was forced to turn to those whom they were so eager to get out of the country. A company of Russian special forces under the command of Lieutenant Minenkov, risking their lives with the battle made its way to the Embassy and took out of it all the employees in the amount of 25 people, including Ambassador Stanley Escudero, as well as... all the guards.

Question: do our worst overseas friends remember this? I do not know, in any case, there is nothing about public gratitude in the public space.

***

Well at least remember who warned them in advance about the impending largest terrorist attack in the history of mankind "9/11".

This was written by American political scientist and diplomat, former adviser to Vice President Richard Cheney on Russia, Eurasia and intelligence George Bibi in the book " Russian trap: how our shadow war with Russia can bring to a nuclear catastrophe»:

"Two days before the attacks, Putin called President Bush to warn that Russian intelligence had revealed signs of an impending terrorist campaign, "something long in the making" and emanating from Afghanistan."

Former Secretary of state Condoleezza Rice wrote the same in her memoirs: "Putin warned Bush about the danger of al-Qaeda. The Russian President claimed that the big trouble-only a matter of time. Also K. rice notes that the data of Russian intelligence did not believe, writing off the words of the head of state on the "residue" left by the Russians after the war in Afghanistan.

In fact, behind these words of duty-a modest recognition of the limitless capabilities of the Russian security services, able to control international terrorism, which has spread its networks across all continents.

And to the apologists of conspiracy, who believe that the attack is not a terrorist attack at all, but a top — secret operation of the American special services, I will say simply: if Russian intelligence was able to receive signals about the action being prepared in the strictest secrecy, then to call the niches of opportunity limitless-to say nothing. So, the conspiracy version of the terrorist attack 9/11, without realizing it, irreversibly raises the authority of our security services to an unattainable height.

No wonder D. trump clearly hinted that he doubts the capabilities of his spies in collecting reliable intelligence. It remains to add that the us intelligence services are losers, not going to any comparison with their Russian counterparts.

***

In this sense, it is somehow even not surprising hints Deutsche Welle that the recent murder (August 23) in Berlin, a Chechen and a native of Georgia Zelimkhan hangoshvili — is not just revenge of the Russian security services, but something immeasurably more: after all, the action took place in the heart of the capital and just 1.5 kilometers from the office of Chancellor Angela Merkel, where recently the German government thought about tightening migration legislation, especially in relation to Chechens.

I wonder if angel's grandmother will ever write in her memoirs who prevented an attempt on her life? In any case, despite some déjà vu, the Germans, unlike the English poisoning of the cat Skripal, to spin the murder of a foreigner by a foreigner in their territory did not pedal.

So, forgive Deutsche Welle clumsy attempt to interfere in the internal Affairs of Russia by calling on Muscovites #Moscow come out#. We understood the hint on the true role of our special services correctly.

Things change in Russia.
Yet they stay amazingly the same.

Yes. It happens here so often that schools have to prepare for them. Many people are taking their kids out of public schools if they can. Sadly most people cannot afford to homeschool their kids so have to live with the fact that their kids will not only be subjected to the US public school system but maybe become a victim of the violence in them.

Truly pathetic. Don't get me started.

This replaces the old reactor in Bilibino if I recall correctly as Bilibino shares its power grid with Pevek. Not sure that this was the cheapest way to power those places but its their decision. Why would I care?

Bilbino was commissioned in 1974, it's 35 years old and considering where its at I would decommission it. It's too great a cost to keep it going but they still might anyway considering it's capacity.

More of these floating nuclear plants are going to be built. It's biggest strength is the fact that it's mobile. Another strength is it doesn't need the same cooling system a stationary land based reactor does. This cuts costs drastically. There are several business entities in South East Asia taking a great interest in them. Portable power sources for off shore development of natural resources, deep sea mining, farming and even human habitation on the sea floor and surface. A third benefit is it produces large amounts of hot water and converts saltwater into freshwater for next to no additional cost.

You should care DKM. Because the country you live in cannot produce such a useful platform for the good of humanity. Progress isn't Americas thing, unless you want to get onto the subject of 100 different genders.
