Just read an article about Crimea beaches that becoming less and less. Oligarchs built cement fences to mark their private beach properties.
So that ordinary people cannot go through their beach or even see the water.
This is the legacy of Ukraine. The law prohibits guard of beaches in Russia. The coast of Crimea will be cleared as well, but this is a very painful issue.
In the long run do you think Russia should have a stronger relationship with Korea and Japan to keep China in check, or all the talks of Russia turning into Chinas lapdog is just rubbish and that Russia should focus on growing a stronger and closer relationship with China? Also what do you think about Kuril island dispute? Can’t Russia just give them the islands but with the condition that Russia can keep their military bases there?
Japan does not have own army, but Japan has US military bases. I think that Japan is not an independent country, it is a vassal of the United States. A strategic treaty with such state makes no sense. Russia's only ally is China. But this is a very difficult ally.
I do not have information about this. You do not have to trust the FB, Russian audience of FB is very special. Verification of information is required.
I thought so. It's not about "trusting the FB people" ( although I have people of all kind of walks there - the "right and left" alike,) but there is plenty of information on that out there.
It's simply not advertised in Moscow for obvious reasons, but I have people from the Far East and Magadan alike on my friend's list.
All you need is to look up the information on ТОР ( федеральный закон №473-ФЗ) which is obviously not advertised in Moscow.
I couldn't understand the gist of what they were saying in the 2nd half of this video. There was too much background noise, as the car drove along. What was it about?
There has been a lot of poaching in Primorsky Krai, since the 1990's, and not all of it was by Chinese. Poaching of tigers, forest products, timber. Korea was involved in illegal logging. There aren't enough forest rangers to cover the remote area, to adequately patrol it.

I can not comment, laws are written quite difficult.
This is not a Chinese's problem. This is Russia's problem that police can not guarantee implementation of laws in remote places.
Maxim, the "Chinese problem" means a trouble for the Chinese.
In this case, it's obvious that the Chinese have no problem at all, it's Russian Far East/Siberia ( Russia overall) that is going to have a problem.
And big part of that problem is that Russians themselves don't know how to control their greed and corruption. Add to that the Chinese mentality of the third worlders, that won't stop at organ harvesting for money, won't stop at food poisoning for profits, won't stop at deforestation and soil poisoning for money, and you have a recipe for disaster in Siberia\Far East.
Needless to say, I blame Americans for contributing to the problem.
It's one thing when the third worlders cut the trees with the axes, it's another thing when they receive the advanced technology - the kind you see here at 1:38 here, to destroy the nature with impunity.
It's OK though, as I've said - I am the believer, so it's all the domino effect, sliding into the inevitable end.
Money indeed are the root of the evil of it all.

It's not even about poaching any longer Ruth, it's already about the destruction of these pristine areas.
And as thuggish as these *local* Russians look, actively participating in the process together with the Chinese ( and stuffing their pockets in the process,) - all their commands are coming directly from Moscow.
( I am not sure which segment exactly would you like me to translate/reitirate?)

Been enjoying the discussions on this thread lately. But I have to point out your error. These walls came up after the occupation of Crimea in 2014. That's what people are complaining about, not old walls but new. Ukraine's law also prohibits private beaches...

Right, I got the environmental destruction part, the ground stripped clear of everything, and how certain projects were all documented and approved. In the 3rd video (which I "quoted"), the 2nd half of it shows the view from a car moving down the highway, and the speaker is saying something about the villages they pass, and I don't know what else.
My point earlier was that poaching forest products, especially lumber, also can cause similar destruction to what they're documenting.
The problem is that in Russia, you can't form an environmental organization to protest these things, and to organize voters to pressure the government, and so forth. I mean, you can, but... you won't get far.
