And that's the problem.
They'd rather see Russia weakened and breaking apart, as it was happening in the 90ies. ( actually, it was the whole design of the nineties.)
There is something wrong with the picture in their opinion, when Russia is still alive and kicking and what's even worse - is defending her geopolitical interests.

That's not something unique to Russia either.
Claiming the expansion of "freedom and democracy" while actually serving the corporate interests is as close to it as it gets.

Russia also remember a lot of things in their history, which is associated with these countries.

I think that we will never know the truth, who shot down the plane. But why do not you blame the Ukrainians that they are allowed to fly over a war zone? Or is it Putin ordered to fly over antiaircraft guns?

Do you think that you are better versed in the situation than Russian? This is not so. Russian have access to extensive information in Ukraine, because the conflict is happening in their own language. A lot of Ukrainian groups exist in Russian social networks (VKontakte), Ukrainians posts latest news from the point of view of Ukrainians. You can find a variety of information.

By the way, in the Western media adequate articles are published occasionally:

Rethinking the cost of Western intervention in Ukraine - The Washington Post

Where is the adequacy? No doubt, crap gets published everywhere. The Putinoids keep talking about NATO expanding towards Russia. Seriously, NATO membership wasn't shoved down the throats of the Baltic's and the likes. NOBODY FORCED US TO JOIN NATO!!!. Except the threat of Russian invasion. Russia says it doesn't want NATO at its border but does everything to make this the reality pretty soon. Don't know how long till Sweden and Finland also decide to join it.

Why Russia will invade to you? Do you have something of value? Why Russia to take over a small area, where the population is 1 millon people that hate Russia? Russia has an outlet to the Baltic Sea without you. Russian imperial ambitions - a fairy tale for fools. Another matter Crimea and Sevastopol - the city of Russian military glory. This is a fundamental point. Sevastopol should not fall into the hands of NATO. This would be a shame throughout the fleet of Russia.

UPD:
By the way, the West has to say thanks to Putin that the Crimea is now a part of Russia. Because if Sevastopol is part of Ukraine and Ukraine will join the NATO, the Russian fleet will have to leave Sevastopol. But the Navy will not do it without a fight. This could initiate a hot war.

When you have a powerful neighbor who happens to be very unfriendly, you'll lean to the other side and seek help. The same applies to Asian countries. Even though China's invasion is highly unlikely, everybody forms some sort of alliance with the US.

Then the citizens of that unfriendly neighbor would blame them for being so paranoid and hostile.

You tell me why it has invaded us so many times before. RuSSia hasn't changed so why wouldn't we expect anything but the worst from them?

Do you have something of value?
Then why you dogs kept on coming over and over again in the first place?

Why Russia to take over a small area, where the population is 1 millon people that hate Russia?
Oh this has never stopped you You have always been the uninvited quest. Deport the locals and import your 'people' and voilaa, you are more welcomed instantly! Done that before.
