I do not understand Paris and wins if the comments are that Madrid is more vibrant,

Perhaps the explanation is that many vote to Paris by his legend whitout thinking wat it means vibrant.
people look at it from different perspective.

I find it weird for example many people value so-called "night life" so much. Apparently to them vibrancy means what you can do after 11pm, so for them Madrid wins.

But for me, as one of the normal people who are in bed by 11pm, vibrancy means different things and what happens after 11pm is utterly irrelevant. What matters to me is on the street level during the day time and regular evening hours, how many people are out there enjoying their life (no, doesn't necessarily involve alcohol). For me vibrancy means the number of restaurants and cafes, the cultural institutions, the interesting public spaces people hang out in, the bookstores, the theatres, and the events.

I didn't vote because I haven't been to Madrid yet, and one can see that vibrancy means different things for different folks, and what one calls vibrant can matter little to another.

And Paris is all about "tourism, Louvre and more people"? Are you serious? That's all Paris offers?

I don't think it's normal in Madrid to be in bed by 11 pm.

Madrid gets very hot. It is over 30C in the summer during the afternoon and well into the evening. 38C at 3pm is not unusual.

Thus, people don't mill about during the day as much, they go out at night. Even shops are open late.

While violent crime is very low, you do have to worry about pickpockets.

While being in bed at 11 PM may be normal in many cities, I think you have to adapt to your new surroundings.

Yes, it is, but those guys often don't allow other people to sleep, especially those who live quite close to the bars and clubs.
Ffortunately, few yearas ago Madrid government issued a ban from most bars and clubs to close at 2:00 AM in the center to the city, just to keep it quiet.

Certainly not from Friday to Sunday, but from Monday to Thursday, especially during winter months.

I don't think being in bed by 11 PM is that normal in most busy cities, whether they are in europe, asia, oceania or the americas.

you sure? Most people do need to get to work by 8:30 or 9 am the next day, and usually with a 30-60 minutes commute. People With kids usually need to get up by 6am/6:30.

very true and I recognize the difference, however, the same logic will tell us it is wrong to judge a city's vibrancy based on late night life as many people tend to do.

Paris may not be as busy as Madrid at midnight or 1 am, but is a lot more vibrant between say 2-5pm when the Spaniards are, I don't know, stay at home for their siesta?

All I am saying is that, we shouldn't judge vibrancy based on what happens at night. So many people do that. The bars closes at 12 in city A instead 3 am in city B, so city B must be more FUN! maybe the people already had fun when it was not dark? I don't know why drinking or whatever events have to take place way past normal bedtime as if that's a condition for having fun.

Yes. I am sure.
If you have young kids you never sleep more than 5 hours anyway. Maybe 6 when they are teenagers. Even if you live out in the country.
