Mariza is great but Amália will always be the Queen of Fado.

Living in Portugal, maybe I shouldn't say this, but I don't like Fado at all
I am allergic to that piercing way of singing, reminds me of the equally irritating songs from Bollywood musical movies. People keep saying Fado is oh so emotional, but to me it sounds simply kitschy and phony. That whole melodramatic thing the Portuguese seem to like so much.
The only exception is Carminho, but I only like her Brazilian stuff with Milton Nascimento and others.

Germans aren't comfortable with deep emotions. You just don't get it that's all no problem.

Some Portuguese don't get it either but other's feel it down to the bone it isn't fake we all feel at different depths.

To the contrary, my emotions run deeper, that's why shallow Fado doesn't touch me Some Brazilian songs on the other hand can make my eyes water...

Exactly, I don't like it because it doesn't touch me. I only like music that touches me. I don't like Metal or Classical Music or Rap for the same reason.

Soulful folk commonly sung in the Azores islands sung by the great Teresa Salgueiro. The song is called Ohos negros.
