Russia was siding with Iran from the very beginning:

Russia says no grounds to blame Iran for Ukrainian plane crash: TASS - Reuters

Actually, yes. Who else was flying there on that day??

I guess there is a bunch of other airlines that are "stupid, greedy and incompetent"...

You are confused as usual DKM.
Victims - that's the people who were on board of that plane.
Ukrainian crew and Iranians, no matter what passports they held.
Now the people in charge, the Ukrainian officials that don't make the right decisions - they are not victims.
And if they ARE victims, they are the victims of their own stupidity, greed and incompetence.

Iran has pleaded guilty in the crash of a Ukrainian airliner

Iran said that the Ukrainian passenger plane Boeing 737-800 was shot down by accident. This is reported by the Associated Press, citing an official statement of the Iranian authorities.

The thing I still don't understand though - well, if the plane was hit by a missile, wouldn't it explode right there, in the air?
Look at the initial video - it's on fire, but it still seems to be in one piece, even trying to maneuver.

Is it possible after being hit by a missile ( or even two as they now say) ?

It is depends on a degree of damage. A missile creates a cloud of fragments (damaging elements) in front of a plane and a plane flies into this cloud. If there weren’t a lot of damaging elements, then plane can fly on.

It is good that Iran recognized the attack.

Of course, but Ukrainians already had a precedent before, when they *thought* ( or pretended) that the air space over *certain region* with military actions was out of danger.

And in the light of this air-traffic from Iran in such tense hour, I have yet another question - a good one -

why with all the air traffic during that time frame only ONE civilian plane has been hit - precisely as this article questions;

"Why a military missile unit familiar with its location so close to a continually used international airline route would ever be activated, let alone fire a missile, without first contacting the air traffic controllers and without being overseen by a competent command and control regime is completely baffling."

????

Nah, I will wait for that black box to be decoded before being certain of anything.

Yes, it's very interesting. But this is not a quick process.
