Yesterday I did 1 hour on the treadmill, mostly running. At variable inclines from 0 to 4.0. Started by warming up at 4.8 and ended 5.0. Little if any a/c in the YMCA, massive sweating going on!
I haven't lifted a single dumb bell or done a single rep on bench press, deadlift or squat this week. I haven't touched an Olympic bar, set foot on a treadmill, or done a second's worth of planks. And yet, I feel as sore and exhausted daily as I ever have. I'm on vacation at Outer Banks, NC. I've been here since Sunday, and I brought my stand-up paddle boards! Until now I've only used these in lakes and rivers. But the ocean is a whole new level of exhausting. It's a complete body workout. I got a good lesson in humility on day 1, but a few locals told me it was unusually rough that day. Today I paddled north up the coast all the way back into Virginia (marked by a series of poles along the beach) then back to our little slice of the beach. A few more days of this then it's back to the grind for me. For now, beer, beach, BBQ, and SUP boarding!
