I like working out because I like doing stuff. I hate being idle. I'm a procrastinator so when I have empty space, I'll do nothing all the time. I'm always happiest when I have tons of things to do. Now that I've starting going back to the gym and working with a trainer, I never want to sit still.
And I work out because I want to wear "sexy panties" again

Cute . Thats a very admiral goal.
I attribute the fact that I have not had any illnesses in years as a result of my working out and maintaining my fitness level. No colds, flu, headaches, etc. My blood pressure is great, my cholesterol levels are great, and I tend to not really like bad food now.
It's mostly about extending the time I spend alive in a capable state. I hate the idea of living to be 100+ in frail health unable to do anything. I also don't want to lose my mind nor fall apart physically (I know plenty of 50-60 year olds who don't take care of themselves and have a laundry list of health issues). Lastly, I love seeing myself get stronger... being able to heft a larger dumbbell off the weight rack makes my day every time I can do it.
I work out because life is much more enjoyable being healthy and rarely getting sick.
I work out because I love the fact that I can outrun my (almost) 13 yr old runner.
I work out because I love the shocked look on people's faces when they hear my real age...they think my daughter and I are sisters!
i cant stand health club working out. so i dont do it. i do stay very fit.
pain and humiliation motive me. so i run do calasentics extra training, whatever it takes.
i compete with teenagers on a regular basis. if i dont equal or beat them i get the old guy treatment.
works great. also bike/trolley instead of drive.
