Johnny Mathis?
Michael Jackson?
Barry Manilow?

Agreed. For instance, I think that it should be just as acceptable for males to wear makeup, dresses, skirts, boots, and necklaces as it is for females to wear things such as pants.
What a ridiculous example. So you interpret the argument as a man in practically full drag vs a woman wearing pants. Talk about a straw-man argument!

No, not really. Its an "if they can do it then we should be able to do it" thing.

Well, doesn't it seem that romantic and sexual attraction goes beyond the purely physical differences? Is that thought enough to provide at least one answer to your question?

How are you so sure that gender differences are created by society? Might they be rooted in, well, gender? That's not to rule out that they may have been exaggerated by society at times or that people were expected to too rigidly adhere to typical behavior at times. Are you sure there aren't differences between gender that are natural and that some vocal but confused people in society don't acknowledge? Might those vocal people's influence cause more harm than good at times?

Women probably want enough normal men around so that every woman can have one. The more men that cross some possible line into an extent of feminine-typical behavior that renders them unattractive to the average woman, the less supply there is. I really don't know how accurate I am here, but it sounds plausible to me.

Edit:

This takes it a bit further and is a bit more out there, but one thought I've had that may make lesbians out of some women, assuming female sexual orientation is fairly fluid like some studies suggest, is when they begin to "see through" men and when masculinity, in their personal experience, is tapped out as an attraction, therefore causing them to turn to femininity in terms of attraction. I mean, think of examples of where you know a woman is not attracted to a guy, the guy just doesn't "have it", and she sees right through him with no attraction at all. Take that to an extreme and apply it to very masculine men most women would find very attractive, and you've got what I'm talking about in my theory.
Well I mentioned I was talking about physical things and I posted this in the fashion forum, so obviously I'm talking about external indicators of so-called 'femininity.' As I explained, these vary with culture and time, yet I suppose we associate them so much with gender nowadays because we see women wearing them. Short shorts are an example of a recent thing...since we mostly see women wearing them we associate them with women and thus many now think of them as feminine and or gay on men. Go figure. Nobody thought that way say in the 70s. Or take long hair, a lot of rock singers from the 70s were able to have long hair but still maintain that virile masculine image. Only a lot of bitter guys who weren't getting laid as much as them would make fun of them for that.

For me growing up everyone wearing short shorts was the norm. Only difference was girls wore light colored shorts and guys wore dark colored ones. In fact id still rather wear short shorts than those culottes they try to push on us these days. I feel like a clown wearing those things.

I really don't care either way. To each his own. We just should have equal treatment. If we accept and encourage women for taking on male fashion and characteristics, we should accept and encourage men who take on female fashion and characteristics. If we judge and disdain men for it, we should judge and disdain women as well!

Last time I checked, gender equality included men also.
Exactly. There are double standards everywhere, perhaps it's understandable, but in this case it seems females crossing the 'gender divide' is more acceptable.

The sad part is some of these women that like these guys don’t find out how useless they are until something manly needs to be done. But hey they do know how to hook up that PS4 in record time.
Yet if I say I want someone to cook, clean and serve me I'd be the sexist pig.

I think most people want the other sex to be as different as possible from one's own. Not better or worse, but simply different. Opposites attract as they say.

Someone said that in nature males are often the more colorful looking ones and females the bland ones. That might be, but we are humans, not animals. Those are cultural values we are talking about. A peacock can't do anything about the way it looks, it is just genes expressing themselves. We, however, can deliberately decide what we want to look like and how we want to come across.

In humans I agree that homophobia has a lot to do with it. It is interesting that many men in fashion and beauty industries are gay. A "feminine" man might be funny in a comedy, but in real life more often than not he is met with pity, mocking, disdain etc.

You obviously missed the gist of my point, that those things you see as 'female' are just made up...the only thing innately female is biological, maybe somewhat behavioural, but has nothing to do with pretty dresses or makeup.

Maybe we all are, I mean in many species that seems the case. If anything males moreso than females.
