Oooh, the posture! I have a terrible time standing up straight. But yes, slumping, and having one's neck out at an angle from your shoulders looks bad. And, sometimes people can't help it.
I also agree about a good haircut and the teeth.
I would also add grooming. We elders look best when we are well groomed and clean.
Another thing that really makes us look our best is a pleasant expression on our faces. There is so much I can't control about aging; but I can smile or at least look pleasant.
1. Don't dye your hair too dark. It looks fake and well, too dark. As the OP said, a good haircut - to go with the natural looking hair color if you chose to dye it. I personally like my gray and I like it short.
2. Proper fitting clothes - too many older women wear clothes that are too large thinking they are hiding the extra pounds. Instead they are making themselves look dowdy.
Might I add, attitude? Those dear to me often said it is important how you carry and present yourself; one adding it is 'sometimes, it is more important how you appear and relate to others, than how you feel...'. If you are feeling crummy but go the extra mile to smile, be friendly and try to look nice, others will respond in a friendly, welcoming manner. If your outfit requires neither lipstick or even an accessory, it may be best to stay home. Just my thoughts...
Start using a more moisturizing shampoo even if it's spendy.
Keep your brows groomed and accentuate the color and shape. The eye brows accentuate the face!
