The Bible clearly states this and if you do not believe go and look it up. You seem to have a beef with God. I do not know you on a personal basis, but there must be something in your life that causes such strife in your life.
The Holly Sprit must be stirring in some way. I pray and hope that your trial will pass.

I suggest you read about Paul. Paul hunted Christians down and the Lord changed him. Its not up to me to convert you, but its up to plants seeds. Martin Lutheran had a interesting Quote and I think this applies.
"its not for man to intrepid the Bible, but its man duty to read the Word of God" Meaning the understand will come from the Holly Sprit and God.

God and Jesus loves everyone, even as flawed as we as humans are.
You're cute. You're prayer is neither requested nor required. I okay plenty, myself thank you.

Considering I used to be a man of the cloth, I'd hazard I know a thing or two about Paul. In fact, as a World Religions and Theologian in my younger years, I learned a lot about many of the world's religions. Convert me to what? An American Evengilacal? IMO, no one has the truth, but low church Protestants are about as far from it as you can get. Maybe it is I who should pray for your conversion?

There is not strife in my life. In fact, I have never been healthier or happier than after I came to terms with being gay. As for the understanding of the bible coming from the Holy Spirit and God, I'd bet you only BELIEVE the understanding comes from God if it agrees with you. Maybe Mohammed's understanding was correct? Or Joseph Smith? I know, it must have been David Koresh who had the true understanding from God. But, now we are even further off topic, aren't we?

I see, I am sorry I hit a cord with you. There are deeper issues which would not be proper to go further on any thread.. No said to convert you to anything, just reaching to a fellow man, that all. People tell me am a little too perceptive and should keep it to myself!

I felt some displaced from the God Thing as well. If you wish no bones to the point, you may wish to visit Dr. Charles Stanley.(In touch Ministries)he a dreaded Baptist, but he is down earth has no illusions of the word of God.

Just a suggestion.

Being one who had a good time in my youth. I come to see things differently and believe it not I do even have a axe to grind.

At least I do understand what ground you have come from and that is the ground to folks come together in peaceful debate.

But you still a worthy debater!

FL needs to drop the whole "south" and "trailer park" vibe it's got going and adopt a more wordly, sophisticated one.

amirite? or amirite?

Nice condescending, arrogant and sweeping generalizations there. I take it by your OP that you are one of the liberal/progressives which of course means in your own mind that you are open-minded.
Funny thing is that left wing liberals tend to think of themselves as so tolerant because they think by being PC, it gives them some special status. In reality many that I've met are more intolerant and close-minded than they would ever be capable of seeing. It just doesn't fit into their own self image.

The fact of the matter is that many "educated, cultured, & sophisticated" people are moderate and conservative, not just the ones who only think they are.

The liberals are just has guilty has conservatives at getting in people bedroom and lives. The liberals may be for legalizing marijuana and prostitution!! But it is the liberals that is passing all those anti-tobacco laws and anti - junk food in schools. Look at New York city that has ban large pop drinks.

It is also liberals that are anti- casinos and want all liquor stores to be government owned and tax !! called a sin tax like in the UK and Canada.

Exactly. The mentality these people display is that of severely socially stunted individuals with warped worldviews punctuated by superstition.

I have lost several family members to cancers brought on by choices that weren't the best in life, such as smoking. Did they DESERVE the suffering that came with same?

And yep, is a heart attack (#1? killer in America) God's punishment for gluttony and greed? Diabetes, as you pointed out, which affects more than one hover-round riding church lady in this country.

Just awful, awful people. Evil, in the truest, non-biblical meaning of the word. These people will never realize that they are not godly people. They are the exact opposite. They are warts on the underbelly of human progress, anchors holding back humanity's potential.... and they have been for centuries.
