I never got much from Irma, maybe 70mph gust at best. If it had stayed over the gulf and made a right turn and was still at 180mph+ then the Tampa area would have been gone. Tampa's number is coming up with a super strong CAT5. It not gonna be another 100 years or even 15 years.

Tampa doesn't get hurricanes.

Thankfully Dorian is no longer expected to hit Florida, direct hit anyway. Its expected to head North some distance off the Coast. Prob ably a No Carolina hit for Dorian.

As far as Tampa is concerned, Evidently that area is in the worst position for a hurricane hit. So has the area ever installed Huricane Barriers anywhere to help prevent with destruction and loss of life? Exactly what has Tampa or Pinellas County done to deal with what obviously will happen. I hope the answer is nothing has ever been done.

Last one was 1921. But our time is near for a CAT5 with gust over 220mph.

Yep, I making this up.

Official NHC site now shows most of southern Florida and all of western Florida outside the cone of probability.

Even the European model, which shows the most easterly track of the three main ones as also explicitly discussed on the NHC site, shows no landfall in Florida.

But, I'm making this up.

That doesn't mean the actual track can't veer east or that people shouldn't prepare for flooding and wind.

I made that up too.
