Well they looked so darn pretty on display I figured for 80 cents a bunch I could give them a try. The turnips were 30 cents a pound so same with them. I know I ate them as a child but for the life of me, I don't remember if I liked them. So I am going to try them again and see.
I guess when I'm not cooking one day, the dinner the day afterwards gets even better!
Today I experiemented a little bit b/c I had this craving for spaghetti.
I fried 3 boneless chicken breasts in small cubes in some oil (with curry powder, thyme, salt and pepper), took the chicken out of the pan and put chanterelles in small pieces into the rest of the oil. Then I added a glass of dry white wine, some milk, a cup of cream and a table spoon cream cheese and the chicken back into the pan. All this cooked for about 15 min. to reduce a bit. Add parmesan cheese and it was great.
Location: Finally made it to Florida and lovin' every minute!

Hi, all! Sorry I've been away. DH (aka Santa Claus, but don't tell anyone, ok?) has kept me busy with Christmas decorating and shopping. Plus my shoulder bothered me a lot over the weekend, so I thought I'd give it a bit of a rest from the typing. It felt better today till I went to PT. Bummer.
Looks like you folks have been busy, busy, busy in my absence!
FYI - I love beets (especially fresh ones) and turnip (raw or cooked). I tried roasting the beets once, but it took forever and I wasn't that impressed. DH eats the greens when I cook fresh ones.
Anyway...not sure what's for dinner tonight. about 9 of us from our cul-de-sac are meeting at a restaurant for a surprise b'day party. I hope it's good and I hope it's fun, especially since we got into a little "to do" with our next door neighbor yesterday. Should be interesting. I'll let you know if there's any bloodshed.
Tonight I am having a typical Cuban Food dish " Arros con Pollo a la chorera" (Yellow rice with chicken the mushi style) with Tostones ( Green banana smashed and fried) and a nice mixed salad.
Ok so these "salisbury" steaks I unthawed have thawed enough so I could take a look at them. It seems they are beef with peppers and onions mixed in. So could I still use them for the "chicken" fried steak?
You mean like hamburger patties with minced pepper and onions mixed in, or big pieces of beef with big pieces of peppers and onion in the package as well?
Like hamburger patties with the minced peppers and onions.
