Consider yourself invited! There is always room at our table! You can sprinkle the steamers with crackers, breadcrumbs, etc. Cover with wet paper towels and put them in the fridge. Give a quick rinse before you steam them. I hate eating sand and this trick really helps.
Next time I am in Worcester County, you may find yourself with a guest!
I live in Ohio, as you might know, and there is a lot of good food to be eaten, but steamers are not among them Since I grew up on Long Island, I've been eating steamers since I was a kid, however, my parents never knew the Ritz Cracker trick.
I think I must have consumed enough sand in my lifetime to fill a small, salt water beach.
Yesterday Memorial Day, we had grilled quinoa burgers with Old Bay seasoning, fried Walleye, grilled white and yellow sweet corn, home made black eyed pea, minced veggie and balsamic vinegar dressing, baked home made macaroni and cheese with jalapenos. Corn bread. Coleslaw.
Assorted cheese clices.
Watermelon slices, home made cherry pie ala' mode - with vanilla ice cream from a local place (Handells) Red, White and Blue Star shaped sugar cookies, brought by a guest.
Pink watermelon spiked punch, StoneIPA and sweet tea to drink.
Leftovers: pork chop, the last veggie pizza slice and some watermelon. Drank Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
