The blue cabbage is a Napa type head cabbage I picked up at my local nursery. This is my first time growing it. It is darker than Napa and has a mild bitterness raw.

I did this. I sautéed up sliced Brussels sprouts with lots of garlic (and some red pepper flakes), as I am wont to do, then added ribbons of the “blue” cabbage at the end of cooking, along with loads of slivered almonds. I added a dash of hoisin sauce for sweetness but it should have been sherry vinegar. Mixed the rice and the veg in my favorite blue willow bowls.

It was pretty good, tasted like well-oiled virtue. The toddler ate some of all of it, I call that success.

Met a friend for dinner last night at a new Indian restaurant. We split pakoor chaat, tandoori citrus salmon with pickled veggies, chicken biryani, kata meta okra (the best!), garlic naan and paratha. All of it was good, the okra, chaat and biryani were excellent, wouldn't order the paratha again.

Tonight, back to the regular things: pork chops and brussels sprouts. Pears for dessert.

Good night, my fellow foodies!
We call those "the brown meals." It takes some effort to perk the looks up for company but many of them are among our favorites. Rich flavors.

Debsi's blue cabbage salad sounds good. And colorful.

I think that toddler's been eating healthy things since the day she started at the table.

More leftovers tonight. Not tired of them yet.

Have my eye on the rhubarb patch. Oh boy!
