Living in the Phila area -- with a neighborhood pizza place practically on every other block in some places -- a person ought to be ashamed to say they buy frozen grocery store bought pizza.
I agree. I'm originally from NYC - Long Island, and I currently live in Northeastern OH.
Much like Philadelphia, and NJ, if you live in anyone of these areas and eat fast food pizza - or frozen pizza - let's just say we have very different tastes in food.
Really, unless you work the night shift, I can not think of any reason to need Pizza at 3AM. Although, when I was in my early 20s, I lived in NYC, and I had my reasons then - great pizza was always available by the slice at anytime of the day or night.
I love frozen pizza, and it is basically the only type I eat anymore. I agree about Home Run Inn, those are great; my second favorite is an organic brand called Montelli, they are imported from Italy. And once in awhile i go to Trader Joe's and get theirs. Can't beat the price or convenience and these all taste VERY good!
On those rare occasions that I've bought a frozen pizza, I do buy the pricier ones, hoping they will taste better. I haven't been thrilled with any yet. Which brands have you tried? I've tried several varieities of both thin crust and the rising crust ones (can't think of the names right now except for Freschetta or something like that---blechhh!)
While I'll admit I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to the ingredient list I stopped buying frozen pizza when I started buying a dough ball from the local market and making my own. While it may not be up to local pizzeria standards I find it much better than any frozen brand I've tried.
The only pizza in my freezer anymore is when I bring home a pie from a local Mom & Pop place and freeze individual slices. Once you find the correct temp/time it comes out of the toaster oven as good as a fresh slice.

Trader Joe's Roasted Vegetable and Trader Joe's Ricotta and Spinach are good frozen pizzas.
I've never bought a frozen pizza. I'm three blocks from an excellent pizzeria. If any of you have recommendations I'd love to hear them.
Urban Pie. They are seriously restaurant quality, and the crust is perfect (I normally do not rave about crust.) Unfortunately, no one sells them locally anymore.

Don't know about the price but have you considered bringing a pie or two home from one of those outstanding places, breaking it into slices, and freezing them individually? I do that often and once you figure out the right/temp/time for reheating you'be hard pressed to tell it from fresh out of the oven.
not a bad idea but I am also not a lover of pizza cooked, frozen and reheated. Either i will stick with my once a month or less frozen pizza (we get the smaller ones as mentioned) or we will do someplace like Papa Murphy's if we are going to buy one. Oh, we do get the most expensive from one of our good places when we are having company. In fact for our 60th wedding anniversary next month we are having a 3 day celebration. One night is at our daughters house after a late afternoon cocktail party on the lake. She is ordering pizza from one of the pizza places for the out of town guests.
We always have a purchased pizza in the freezer for those days (usually weekend lunches) when the weather is bad or we just don't feel like putting something together. We don't eat them frequently and are aware that they aren't health food, but sometimes they hit the spot.
A very moderate and healthy attitude!
