Well dinner was good. That jazzed up spicy hot chicken was most edible. In honor of a certain Diva we added some broccoli to the meal. I sassy full right now.

Well, Nomad...we followed in your footsteps. I went over to a friend's house to drop something off. I wasn't there 5 min. when DH called to tell me to get home soon because he was ordering Pizza from Papa John's. Yum. WOrd of advice, tho. He decided to get a little healthy and ordered the whole wheat crust. Don't do it.

I'm on a wagon now. No pizza for sure. Now the wife has been ordered to lose some weight by the doc it will be easier for me. The next coconut pie will be cut into 8 pieces instead of 4 and the topping only 1/4 as deep. And then only one a month... We make whole wheat crust at home using white wheat flour. Not as good but tolerable. That is some time this coming fall maybe...

Goodness, Cyn, I hope that you and Kelsie are ok today; we're still getting the cool breezy weather typical of early spring, but our turn with that rough weather is coming up. Stay inside and be safe - and I hope the rose bushes survive the hail!

Nomad, good luck to you and your wife with the weight control regimen. I always do better with that kind of thing when both my spouse and I tackle it together; it's just too hard otherwise to sit there munching on rabbit food while the other partner is gobbling roast pork and noodles and pie. I hope your wife's surgery goes well. I can attest to the fact that getting a new hip made me feel about half a century younger, once the recovery was over, and I hope she has a similar outcome.

I didn't stay at the office as late today as the past couple of days, but it was still after 7 by the time I got home. Found a lovely surprise upon arrival: the daughter had stopped over for a bit while her boyfriend was working late, and was helping her dad fix supper. They've always enjoyed collaborating in the kitchen together, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he's missed having a knowledgeable and competent assistant who enjoys cooking as much as he does. And best of all, she stayed and enjoyed supper with us when it was ready.

So tonight's feast included our very most favorite salmon cakes, the ones with scallions, chopped water chestnuts and cilantro, with ginger-sesame sauce for spooning over the top. None of us really care for the plain salmon patties with white sauce, but these have a lot of crunch and flavor notes that really work well together. For a side, the spouse went out and got some fresh, tender asparagus, and he and the daughter created a rice noodle/mushroom/asparagus sort of stir-fry, seasoned with a bit of sesame oil. It made for a stupendously delicious supper, and a fun one as well, getting a bit of time with the daughter.

Dishes still await, and I'm for an early bedtime tonight, since I'll be back at the office for a good chunk of tomorrow working on the financials again. Have a great evening, all, be safe and sleep well.

Made dinner of a thin sliced granny smith apple with bleu cheese, havarti, and multigrain baguette. The bread was surprisingly nutty and a good contrast.

Cooking Monica's Lemon Nectar Cake as we speak.

Think I will have a small spinach salad while I wait.
