I think you hit a home run. To some people, I swear they see flavor as something wrong. For these eaters bland food means it is "clean" food, it tastes "ok" to them while flavor means it has been tampered with, maybe even dangerous. And too much flavor is absolutely a threat to their peace of mind. You can put a good tasty meal in front of them, but you simply can not make them like it. They want the safe, the tried and true.

As Auntie Mame said, "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death."

Default People who brag and boast about their cooking...

Have you been around people who brag and boast about their cooking? YUK....It can sure get annoying at times. And the funny thing is that the braggarts and boasters aren't always the "best cooks"....at least not with everything...How do you feel about it? I'm all in favor of having pride in our skills and abilities....but some people take it too far.

I have known people who claim to be "good cooks"--but for the most part, they can follow directions in a recipe. If they don't have a recipe, they can't figure out what to make.

"What would happen if..." describes my cooking. Sometimes it's inedible, sometimes it's okay.

What annoys me most is when they are the self proclaimed expert and refuse to consider any other perspective. This is especially true when they have personal likes and dislikes and they insist that everyone agree with them.

Depends on what you mean by "brag and boast". Could you explain what you mean by that?

Not to brag......... There is a reason freinds and family call me Mr. Meat. and it has nothing to do with Porky's!

I have no problem with people bragging about their food, as long as half of the ingredients used are not pre-prepared stuff from a can or a jar and instead of "cooking" they mostly "combine" ingredients only.

Honestly, I do not brag, but I am quite proud of some foods I cook and I really appreciate good food prepared by some of my friends as well.

What is a huge pet peeve of mine are people who claim to know/cook food items they simply don't even know how to pronounce/spell correctly.

When a person is really a good cook, they don't have to "toot" their own horn....others "toot" the horn for them! Lol!
