I have to disagree Miaiam. I am a foodie but not a gourmet. Click on the link below.

I took my definition from a dictionary, I can research which if you would like.

Wikipedia is not always an accurate source...but I am definitely not going to make a big deal out of it, I do like your posts very much.

Yes you are right that Wikipedia is not always an accurate source. I think with a word like foodie it means different things to different people. Here is a good explanation on what it mean to me.

Not trying to make a big deal out of it either, you have some good posts also.

I'm never gonna starve if left alone.... I'm sensing a little snobbery here and there but what the hey. I try to tell the DD how to do this or that and she gives me this . Then proceeds to find out I was right. Many think they know it all and no one does. Since there's a thread about it there must be snobs out there!

You know, I really do think the term "foodie" means different things to different people.
Would I term myself one? Absolutely!

I made a green bean casserole from scratch for Thanksgiving last year, and most of the family thought I was nuts. It was basically the same components as the old casserole standby, but I used fresh beans, made a cream of mushroom sauce, and fried shallots to put on top. It was so much tastier, I thought.

I make an Alton Brown version of green bean casserole, I think its the same recipe that you are speaking of, its worlds better, and well worth the extra little bit of time it takes.
