Please share this with me! I ate cucumbers at a friends house years ago (and I don't really like them) but they did something to them and they were sweet!
I am almost embarassed about this--there is really nothing to it--I peel and slice up the cucumbers in thin slices (rounds) and put sugar on them. It takes quite a bit of sugar. You let them sit for awhile until the sugar sorta melts and there it is! My DH was raised in MI on a farm where they grew all their own veggies, fruits etc. His mother always made cucumbers this way. At first I thought he was crazy because I'd only had sour cream on mine but then I tried them---yum!
I caught this "Brownie" about an hour ago, I just cleaned it and am about to fry this German Brown Trout up in a frying pan, -- or maybe I'll stuff it with lemon slices and butter, wrap it foil and bake it. At any rate I know I'm going to be wishing I had caught a few more but there is always tomorrow.
Made the tostadas late tonight, added garlic bread. For some reason, they had free bread at work, and they encouraged us to take several loaves (by the time we got there, it had been there a while). I froze the remainder--might use them for sausage and pepper sandwiches.
We went to BJ's Brewhouse and had a couple of their delicious beers on draft along with grilled bbq chicken sliders and Santa Fe eggrolls. Stuffed now but was very tasty.
Grilling steak, baked sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, and garden salad.
