We have one of those human babies, too!

Harvey is Sharpei and hound. Probably a Ba-Shar which is supposedly a recognized breed.

He's so cool. Today, I was running behind picking our daughter up from school. So I'm sitting in the car in the line and I hear a bark. It's Harvey. He was walking over there to pick her up!

The other day, I was sick and fell asleep. He started barking to wake me up exactly at the right time. Exactly. He never barks in the house, either, unless someone is outside. There was no one there.

Dogs are great for companionship and they just happen to be great protection

So great when you have a mutt that you can depend on to take care of the kids. Same here...long suffering, sleepy Willy tolerating his human "charge" (Rosemary's Baby). Smartest dog I've ever had.

She never looks at my camera, so this is the best I can do!

Well, looks like this thread has turned into a show. While we are at it, here are my "spice girls", Ginger and Cinnamon. They are Toy Fox Terriers. I always wanted a girl but after 3 boys, we are done having kids. We decided the girls would have to be pets but of course we spoil them and treat them as members of the family. Ginger is large for her breed and more of a miniature or "Mini Foxie" as I was originally looking for anyway. Cinnamon is a little "fireball". They are the sweetest girls I could wish for but as far as protection they make up for size with barking and growling!

I guess if you're going to hijack a thread, I couldn't think of a more appropriate one to turn in a better direction.
