Potsdambear, those look delicious! Today I had spinach (LOL yes there is MORE) sauteed with italian sausage and two strings of my very iffy broccoli raab. I put the whole thing into pasta sauce and had it with some whole wheat spagetti.

I've learned that broccoil raab is easy to grow...but hard to cook. You have to boil it first and then sautee it. The stuff I planted looked nothing like the stuff in the store, though. It was light green and the stalks were very thin. I ended up composting the bulk of it. Won't be growing that again.

I had a salad with some lettuce, spinach and kale yesterday. DELICUOUS. I'm still in love wiht loose leaf lettuce. SO much better than the store. Dressed with lime juice, salt and garlic powder. The kale is red russian. It self sows, and is more tender than the curly leaf kale.

Harvested my fourth huge bowl of mixed salad greens (bowl is enough for 6-8 salads). I absolutely love growing lettuce - after a few hours in the fridge it remains tender but develops just the right amount of crisp. So amazingly delicious. Our cool, damp spring is providing me with more lettuce than I can keep up with, which is PERFECT.

Totally agree. Lettuce is one of my favorites. I had some spinach and baby swiss chard. Lightened up the sausage and fried egg I had for breakfast.

I don't do the spring planting so all we have right now is herbs that are ready to use. I have to remember to pick some, the plants are growing like crazy. Of course I have to take the umbrella to the garden if I want to pick anything. It is raining like crazy again today.

Today, my garden gave me chocolate mint leaves for tea and a few mixed greens. I was late planting.

Next week, I should have a few baby sugar snap peas!

We planted chocolate mint this year for the first time. I am going to use it in salads I think. We are not tea drinkers but I will keep a pitcher of it in the fridge during the summer. i am sure the mint will give it a lift. Like all mint, it is growing like crazy and I really don't have too much use for it. I was just impressed with the fregrance. I did pick thai basel and Mexican terragone (spelling) the other night. I love both in salads and on veggies.
