It seems that "oddities of (US) geography" has somehow morphed into a word game! Surely we haven't run out of oddities already!

Okay, here's one: The two US states that share their borders with the most other states (8 apiece) also share a border with each other. They are, of course, Missouri and Tennessee.

There are 3 Connecticut lakes at the head waters of the Connecticut River, the 1st COnnecticut lake is the furthers Downstream, the last water passes through, the 2nd is the 2nd, and the 3rd is the 1st.

Another oddity is this. Even though Georgia is an Atlantic seaboard state, Georgia's Atlantic coast gets hit with hurricanes much less often than the states north and south of it.

Delta County, Texas, was so named due to its rough similarity in shape to the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, Δ (Delta).

Boone, NC has a Subtropical Highland climate, a global rariety. It has a low latitude of 36N, has summer high temperatures in the 70s, winter snowfall of 30-40 inches, and an elevation of 3300ft.
