Except Houston and DFW economically are bigger and more important to the U.S. than Atlanta or certainly Miami. Second, Houston's demographic's re closer to NYC than either Atlanta or Miami. Its diversity rivals any city in América which neither southeast city can say. DFW diversity is also closer to NYC than Miami, the ltter is mostly Latin with a very small asian population.

Miami-Dade Matters :: Demographics :: County :: Miami-Dade

The racial makeup of the DFW MSA was 50.2% White, 15.4% African American, 0.6% Native American, 5.9% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 10.0% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 27.5% of the population.

Google 'New York of the South' and you'll find your answer. Hint - it's neither DFW or Houston.

Miami would make the most sense in terms of density and the international nature of the city, but Atlanta has more influence on other parts of American than Miami. Miami's influence is mainly on Latin America whereas in Atlanta you have things like Chic-fil-a, trap music, and Tyler Perry movies that are appealing towards Middle America.

I don't have to use google to know. I've lived in three of those four cities. The only thing NYC has in common with Atlanta is the time zone and film production

New York City is the center of the US, more or less. For most Southerners, Atlanta would fit the bill of center of the South. It’s the Big Peach, such as it were, the place people move to or know someone who has moved to. It’s obviously not NY, but then again the South is obviously not the US.
