Miami, Houston and Atlanta aren’t NYC either but I haven’t seen this ridiculousness yet.
Being dead last in a Poll doesn't mean its correct. DFW isn't trying to be NYC but NYC companies like Chase and Goldman Sachs love the area. Chase has a $1.3billion campus opened in 2019. Citibank has thousands of workers here. American Airlines left NYC for DFW 40 years ago. DFW and Charlotte are the two biggest financial centers in the sunbelt. No city in the sunbelt has more air traffic to the Pacific Rim than DFW. DFW is second in the US for H1B visas for India. Toyota North America moved to DFW about 5 years ago from L.A. NTTDATA, another large Japanese company has its US HQ in DFW.

https://www.indexmundi.com/facts/uni...ion-percentage Four of Five DFW cities (Irving, Plano, Arlington, Fort Worth) out rank Atlanta and Miami and that excludes Dallas itself at 3.4%.

This list shows a large expat population in southeast Florida but also in the DFW area.

Miami was selected #1 but Houston came in at #2, not Atlanta. In fact, Atlanta didn't make the list.

Anything and everything.
You ain't made it if you are not like New York.

In all seriousness.
I don't agree with Walker.
I don't think any of these cities are 'Trying' to be New York.

I think they are all trying to be successful, trying to increase their tax base and NY has had a long history of success.

If any of these cities are trying to be NY looking like NY would be higher on the agenda. DFW is definitely not doing that.

DFW didn't make this list either so I'm not sure of your point.

And the New York Stock Exchange is owned by Atlanta-based Intercontinental Exchange. Doesn’t make either place the New York of the South. And please provide confirmation that Dallas is the 2nd largest financial center of the Sunbelt, I'm not finding proof of this anywhere.

I wouldn't doubt this a lot of large banks have operations in DFW. It has the largest economy in the Sunbelt so by default it's probably a bigger financial city than any other's besides Charlotte. Charles Schwab moved there headquarters there this year from San Francisco. Atlanta used to be a bigger financial city back in the day, but lost a lot of it to Charlotte.

And Seattle has Amazon? It also is not NYC, though maybe it's closer than either of the two cities here.

I still don't understand how the Dallas and Houston metros are more diverse than the Miami metro. The only racial group that Dallas and Houston is more diverse in is Asians, and that's only 5% more of the total population. The Miami area blows away Dallas and Houston in Hispanic and European diversity. The black populations of the Dallas and Houston metro is overwhelmingly African American while the Miami metro is mostly Jamaicans and Haitians. Like I said before post the numbers for this so called diverse black population that Houston and Dallas have and I'll post the Miami area's numbers. I promise you it's a laughable comparison. The Miami metro also destroys the Dallas and Houston metros in foreign born population, especially percentage wise.

The Miami metro has almost the same amount of Jewish people as the entire Los Angeles metro while having half the population. The Dallas and Houston metros don't even have 1/8th the Jewish percentage of the Miami metro. And things like Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach being ranked #1 and #2 for having the most pizzerias per capita out of all U.S. cities just would never happen in Dallas and Houston. A lot of that comes from years and years of connections with NYC. I can go on and on. The culture down there is just really strong and people take pride in it.

Your telling me that having 5% percent more of the population being Asian overrides the Miami metro having a much more diverse Hispanic, Black and European population? Post the Dallas and Houston metro's black population numbers and we'll see what's up.

Top 10 is:
NYC
LA
Chicago
Boston
SF
Philly
DC
Detroit
Seattle

I'd say the one true surprise is Detroit. Of course, I'd imagine the Dallas, Houston and Atlanta contingent will counter with "Europeans are white, does that really add to diversity" argument.
You left Miami off the list it should be ranked 5th according to your link.

I don't understand why you are continuously confused by this. The argument was that Houston and Dallas are more well rounded because they have a decent representation from all regions and they do. Miami is more ethnically diverse but most of it is of the America's. I don't see the issue. Miami is more ethnically diverse. Houston, especially, and Dallas is more racially diverse.
