Wealthy old money areas in places like New Orleans or Charleston. Incredibly beautiful, but I’m always thinking about the fact that a lot of the wealth that built those homes was directly or indirectly related to the slave trade.

It’s kinda eerie for me.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also filmed just south of that area as well.

I feel like the area just seems depressed despite good population growth. There’s not many cultural institutions, especially in Killeen, and a lot of the countryside is really rundown. Killeen despite having a 100,000 plus people doesn’t really have a downtown, there’s like a couple of weird strips from the 1940s close together and that’s about it. It seemed like Waco had some revitalization but overall felt not good.
I actually stayed in a hotel in Temple, TX which is a small city right next to Killeen during the frigid cold spell this past February. During my 1 week stay I felt a weird and not so good vibe about that region. The only thing I liked was how it was much less congested and more quiet than that Dallas area.

Slow drivers aren't the creepy ones.
Too slow is just as creepy as too fast.

Gary, Indiana. I rode the old Lincoln Highway on US 30 and turned onto Broadway Ave., going North, straight through Gary Indiana. I've never felt a more creepier and depressing big city vibe like this city, especially at night.

Slow as in creeping through a neighborhood is creepy, unless the little old man's head barely comes above the steering wheel of his Buick, then it's all good. Just don't get too close.

Very weird vibe and got out of there as quick as possible.
Any of those little desert towns will have a "hills have eyes" vibe to it.

Agree with this impression of Rochester....
