I wonder what makes the OP think that Americans like MD anymore than Canadians do. People eat at MD's because their kids want it or they are in a hurry. The food is mediocre at best, and it is chosen because people need to eat fast. No one goes out on a date with their wife and says, "where should we eat tonight? Lets go to Mcdonalds". Peoples attitude toward MD's is no different here in the US then it is in Canada.

By the way, McDonalds is the second most popular fast food restaurant in Canada. I wonder why Canadians like McDonalds so much? I don't know for sure, but probably for many of the same reasons that McDonalds is popular in the US.

Because it's cheap and people like processed, fatty foods in the US. And let's be honest, the average McDonald's customer is not a size 2.

I am not a fan of McDonald's , it is sort of the food of last resort for me, except for the coffee which is pretty good. However, I have noticed on my trips to Canada many McDonald's there have a smaller menu than the one's in the US. Lot's of items are missing, especially breakfast items.

What i do like is their fries and coffee.
When exactly did they change?

I think there a few reasons:

- Its cheap!!
- It is accessible (locations EVERYWHERE)
- It is convenient (drive-thru window)
- It is fast and easy to purchase
- It tastes good (greasy comfort food)
- It is an American staple of the Fast Food industry
- They know how to advertise at the right places at the right time

The list goes on and on..

The average customer at my local McDonalds is a crack addict buying french fries off the dollar menu so you are right, they are much smaller than a size 2.

I imagine in middle-class sprawling suburbs areas where you only get out of your car to waddle to the recliner in front of your TV, the average size of a McDonalds addict is much larger. :-)
