The areas of the highest quality of life in the USA are the west coast, the inter-mountain west, the upper Midwest and the Northeast. The rust-belt(which does extend into the northeast) and the south tend to have the worst living conditions( though of course there are many many exceptions. The Rust-belt has many nice, major cities but unfortunately most of these cities also have many areas of high crime and extreme urban-decay. The South also has many nice boom-towns but unfortunately has a lot of poverty both in the urban-areas and rural areas.

Yes, but only if you have the money. The weather here is incomparable, the dynamic scenery cannot be found anywhere else in the country in so small a footprint, and the cities are clean, diverse, and progressive.

I love Boston and New England, and they have their own kind of charm, but it's the difference between the nerdy hot girl in glasses and the prom queen.

Chicago and maybe Minneapolis are the desirable exceptions, but ai can guarantee you the average American would still choose a West Coastt metro over those if money wasn't an issue.

This forum is filled with too many sensitive posters who have an inferiority complex about the Midwest and will bend over backwards go make it sound more desirable than it actually is. The Midwest is not a desirable region. It's like tryig really hard to argue that Janet Reno is pretty. C'mon, cut the crap and get real. This is coming from a lifelong Midwesterner.
You should probably stop talking on behalf of the Midwest. We get it...you don't like the cold.

I'm sure you're a nice person and I'm not attacking you personally.. But your post is a load of baloney. Try actually spending some time, maybe even a week in my city, then tell me the 1 million that live in metro Omaha are "stuck" or "easily entertained".. That's a completely minimizing falsehood and rooted in nothing but your baseless, uninformed and biased opinion..

You may indeed be jaded.. But making sweeping generalizations about a region of the US that I suspect you've spent little, if ANY time in is simply crapola..

I've spent very little, if any time in the Pacific NW (as an example).. But would find it irresponsible to speak of that region either positively or negatively until until I did..

I'm sure you can appreciate what I'm saying ..

Peace...

I've been to Omaha, it's not really impressive and was COLD, even on Apr 29th, when it shouldn't be cold anymore

Definitely, the highest degree of fake people in some areas out West. Your Quality of life depends on the attitudes and perception of people and not just mountains and the beach.
