I admire your feisty attitude tho.
What you're not grasping is that both can be true. The Eastern metros ARE more dominant in White Americans born in this country. They have an entirely different history than SF/SJ. BUT NY and DC are ALSO each by metro area/urban area/ CSA more ethnically diverse across a more broad spectrum of countries from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, the Caribbean etc., than the SF Bay area. Both of these are fact.

Ill throw a yawn back at you.
I dont even know what youre trying to argue here. Diversity isnt a fancy word meaning "not white". Diversity has to encompass a lot of different metrics including where those people come from. If they all come from 3-5 countries (as is the case in San Jose by itself), its not particularly diverse.
The DC metro area is more diverse than the Bay Area and a LOT more diverse than the San Jose metro area by itself.
In addition to ethnic diversity, DC is THE most racially diverse metro area in the US with only NYC being a close 2nd. The numbers back it up and there is nothing more to discuss here.

Could you drop the foreign born totals, country by country for those above 20k in both the San Jose and Washington MSA's please? That will put this to rest.

You bet! Ill drop it down to 5k for San Jose and 10k for DC as well since were measuring smaller places. That will give San Jose every benefit of the doubt.

Appreciate ya! And this tells the story we're both explaining clearly.
Oh absolutely, I always enjoy a good diversity thread based on the numbers/data. I'll be looking out for it.
So as I was saying,
San Jose is simultaneously 77% more foreign born and 30% less White than Washington DC.
DC's racial makeup and foreign born proportion is actually far more in line with the nation as a whole than San Jose, which is considerably less white and black, and considerably more foreign born.
