Furthermore, whites are the foundation of your population. White Americans are the largest group BY FAR in DC and NY. That alone sets San Jose apart, that neither whites nor blacks(the historically largest groups in the US) are the dominant or plurality. Asians are far more dominant and powerful and wealthy in San Jose than any minority group is in either DC or New York.

Also pretty hard to say that "Blacks on a whole are doing better in SJ" with only 8,600 families above $100k median income, when DC has over 350,000 Black families over $96k and that's the "median". DC has well over 8,600 Black families (SJ's total) making $111k, in fact that would probably make up one or two zip codes in Prince's George's County.
Who cares? My point stands: Blacks in San Jose make more money than their counterparts anywhere in this country so to say they are especially ostracized due to their small numbers doesnt make sense at all.

And I'm not a huge SJ booster--but I know the South Bay extremely well and must enlighten when necessary.

Montclair18 likes things by CSA so we can look at it that way. Its still the same though. Ill list all immigrant groups over 20,000:

San Jose/San Francisco CSA - Total Foreign Born Population: 2,680,863 - 17 Countries over 20K
Mexico: 677,838
China: 451,885
India: 301,609
Philippines: 287,997
Vietnam: 184,917
El Salvador: 80,513
Korea: 56,467
Guatemala: 44,573
Iran: 41,799
Canada: 39,988
United Kingdom: 38,503
Japan: 28,917
Germany: 27,128
Russia: 26,926
Nicaraugua: 26,584
Afghanistan: 23,303
Pakistan: 22,575

Washington DC/Baltimore CSA - Total Foreign Born Population: 1,770,979 - 24 Countries over 20K
El Salvador: 218,799
India: 139,585
China: 100,926
Guatemala: 73,076
Korea: 69,688
Mexico: 68,342
Vietnam: 61,795
Philippines: 57,039
Ethiopia: 55,167
Honduras: 51,242
Peru: 46,471
Nigeria: 44,710
Pakistan: 36,129
Jamaica: 31,593
Bolivia: 30,147
Ghana: 29,894
Cameroon: 26,020
Afghanistan: 25,247
United Kingdom: 24,282
Germany: 22,317
Colombia: 21,423
Iran: 21,380
Dominican Republic: 21,283
Nepal: 20,591

Bottom line DC wont get close to matching the Bay Area's total number of foreign born residents but the Bay isnt close to matching the number of countries they come from. The Bay Area is more foreign but the DC area is more ethnically diverse.

77 percent more? You're talking city proper not MSA obviously?

Also I bolded your point about Asians, when in actuality this means "Chinese/Indian" people, when you broaden out to ALL of the countries of the largest continent on Earth, SF/SJ does not have more balance than NY, and maybe not DC either.

San Jose has a higher percentage of foreign born people but they come from far fewer countries (really just India, China, and Vietnam). DC has those but also a massive number of immigrants from Africa and an incredibly diverse Latin American population.

Weve seen that Washington DC is THE most racially diverse urban area in the US. But I think the case is there that its the 2nd most ethnically diverse metro area in the US after NYC too.

From 2010-2019, the immigrant increases over 10k were as follows:

Washington DC - 6 Countries
El Salvador: 32,473
India: 31,094
Guatemala: 26,779
China: 20,349
Afghanistan: 16,338
Ethiopia: 15,152

San Francisco - 3 Countries
India: 70,580
China: 34,080
Afghanistan: 12,187

San Jose - 3 Countries
China: 50,250
India: 45,224
Vietnam: 10,663

Basically the Bay Area is piling on immigrants faster but they come from far fewer places. DC doesnt have the same number, but they come from a lot more places. You could say the Bay is more international, but definitely not more diverse.
Yep. This final sentence is how I would describe it.

As you stated, one's more international, obviously on paper the Bay Area simply is, but one has more diversity on paper. That would go to DC or DC-Balt region overall.

Yawns.

Regardless,White Americans are the largest group BY FAR in DC and NY. That alone sets San Jose apart. Neither whites nor blacks(the historically largest groups in the US) are the majority or plurality in San Jose. Asians are far more dominant and powerful and wealthy in San Jose than any minority group is in either DC or New York.

Again, San Jose is 77% more foreign born than DC no matter how much you wish it wasnt the case.

I admire your feisty attitude tho.

Yep just saying the number don't lie.

Also to his point about hearing a foreign language spoken throughout these metro areas, the same applies. In the Bay you may have a higher percentage chance of hearing a foreign language first, but if and when you hear those foreign languages spoken, in the DMV you would hear a greater variety in a very close area might I add. Same for NYC.

What was the basis of this^ statement?

Both Bay Area metros beat DC and NY, as Im sure others do as well.
