Imagine the Middle East without religion. Imagine the world without religion. Now imagine the world without science. The progress we've made as a civilization is due entirely to science. Religion is a failed science. It was an attempt by primitive humans to understand and control nature. There's not a shred of evidence to support the fairy tales & superstitions but of course that won't stop people from seeing Jesus in a rust stain on a highway overpass. It's sad that as a species we can't let go of this barbaric relic of our tribalistic past.
I think it may be rough going at first, but would be better in the long run.
Religion was initially meant to bring people together but instead has torn people apart. What a different world it would be if people realized they didn't need religion to believe in God.
There are roughly 3,700 gods worshiped by humans, some without religion. How are you so sure you're worshiping the right one? Are you privy to information we're not? Do you have evidence?
I like to think that Christianity left me behind. The dichotomy inherent to it's teaching stopped making sense. It forces you to stop growing as a human and put all your faith elsewhere.
And that's the whole point of "faith": you're supposed to believe something for which there is no evidence because someone said so. In fact there are some things you're not allowed to think or say because it's heresy. That's why it's such a force of evil and stupidity, it's opposed to independent thought and reason.
Spread that out over 5000 years and tell me the same thing. I wouldn't say theism has a great track record. And being that theism is a product of humanity, it's no great surprise.
Exactly. If the human race became extinct, the world wouldn't have any problems.
But, I have to say that in the past 113 years, humanism has killed probably more people than all the religious wars of written history combined.

No.
Your standard of evidence for religion is probably impossible to satisfy.... ithere is no evidence you would accept. And your version of history is basically Leftist talking points, not any product of "independent thought".
The more atheistic countries are doing far better than any religious country.
You have to really think about what could go on behind the scenes before you swallow such evidence hook, line, and sinker.
