A 561 foot tall tower would absolutely be visible from I-85/I-40 loop. Heck, even now you can see our current downtown from certain spots on I-40. I don't think it's true from many spots (I haven't lived here long). I guess it's easier at night though with the lighted LFG Tower. Having a tower 150-175 feet taller, you will almost surely be able to see it for a several mile stretch along I-40 off and on depending on trees.

Downtown Gboro view is well obstructed due to location of interstate/ highway and the fact there is not one passing through the downtown area. The most often photographed/ portrait view is from Wendover/ Battleground bridge.
W-S downtown gets a very clear shot from Hwy 52.

On I-40 on the East Gate City Blvd bridge, you can see the tops of Greensboro's skyline particularly in the winter. You can also get a small glimpse on north bound business 85 where it merges with I-40. Downtown Greensboro is cleary visible from Highway 29 during the winter.

Yes, I believe this it was where Business 85 and 40 merged where I saw the skyline the other night. It was a pretty clear glimpse on and off for about a half-mile stretch. I can't vouch for Highway 29, but I imagine during the winter Downtown Greensboro would be visible. Having a 561 foot tall structure there would make downtown stand out even more... even if I doubt the viability of a structure that big in Downtown Greensboro.

Yeah, but I don't mean rooftops.

I think it would be viable. Of course Mr Carroll would have to secure an anchor tenant. Keep in mind, it wouldn't be 561 ft of office space. The tower would actually have 28 floors. (Two office towers in Winston-Salem have 28 floors) The 28 floors would sit on top of an 8 story parking deck and finally a spire would push it up to 561 ft tall. Also keep in mind that the tower would include a hotel. If its a small hotel, it would take up between 4 and 6 floors of the tower so really you are only looking at about 21 floors of office space, the same number of floors the Wells Fargo tower in downtown Greensboro has. It would be a 40 plus story tower in height, but only have 28 floors of hotel and office space.

The Morehead Foundry multiplex opening soon. It includes a speakeasy, bakery, event space and two restaurants. Really cool concept for downtown and I'm digging the speakeasy which is members only. It has a hidden entrance and you have to key in a pass code to get in.

Is the Tanger Center construction a little behind schedule? I thought construction was suppose to begin this past summer?
